LicenseQuote – Michael Borges

Hello everyone,

I appreciate this Music Library Report site and am pleased to see so much meaningful posting and ratings activity!

By way of introduction, I’m a music creator (violin, keyboard, composition, arrangements & production) who owns a small self-published collection of award-winning and licensed credits music tracks. This music and business background, along with my formal management graduate training and entrepreneurial experience, led me to the development of a new music service which enables independent music creators, owners and labels to publish and license their music from their own websites.

This new LicenseQuote service works on a subscription plan basis which is very affordable, starting at $12/month, and completely scalable based on how many songs and brands a publisher would like to add to their catalog. To learn more, you can get a brief introduction from our recent press release posted on the Mi2N site: http://mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=124731

One thing that makes LicenseQuote stand out as a unique “music service” business is that it’s a real do-it-yourself service which provides all the e-commerce solutions needed to empower independent music creators, owners and publishers to take control of their own publishing and licensing business future. We are not your music business partner or co-publisher, but your technology and e-commerce hosting provider. Think like a “Godaddy” hosting service geared for the music publishing & licensing industry with its own specialty e-commerce business needs and solutions.

Our main LicenseQuote.com site also provides a number helpful resources to explain more about our service and answers a number of frequently asked questions. The front page provides a basic introduction with short video clips to show you what we offer, how it works and how it can benefit your short and long-term music career and related business opportunities. There’s also a link to our LQ Pro Features Tour which you can access to learn more specifics about each of our plan’s features.

To get an idea of the types of Licenses you can use to promote the sales of your commercial licensing business, you can use our Free Bid/Quote widget on our site’s “Free Widget” page. This tool informs both buyers and sellers as to some of the dynamics involved with selecting a proper license type for each unique kind of project. The LicenseQuote Pro service starts with this licensing “matrix” as the default profile, and can then be completely customized to fit any catalog’s marketing needs.

To encourage new publishers to “test drive” our LicenseQuote Pro service plan, we are offering a fully functional 30-day free trial. This is a genuine “shareware” style free evaluation period, but with the benefit that all features are working (no limits or restrictions) and you can even upload as many songs and apply as many brands as needed, all at NO charge during your free evaluation period.

Another thing that makes this music service so unique is that we let the publishers decide on the quality and length of their Preview files. Hence, for each song track they can upload two files, both a Master and Preview file. The Master can be a non-lossy file (AIF or WAV) while the Preview file is MP3 (recommended) and can include your own voice overs (or watermark) messages to promote your own brand name and also protect your songs from being recorded/copied for potential unauthorized use.

We’ve also had several requests to provide an LQ Pro demo so people can login in (without having to register) and look around to see what a live account and Licensing Store looks like from the account admin view of the publisher and from the buyer’s & seller’s view in the Licensing Store. To make our demo “dummy” accounts more realistic, we allow visitors to “play” with the various settings and also see some demo licensing inquiries and Sold licenses. You can access the demo account by using the Login link (at top right of site) and enter this username and password to get in:

Username: lqprodemo
Password: lqprodemo

At bottom of the Account page menu, there’s a link to the Licensing Store page from which you can open the Licensing Store and then use the same username and password again (lqprodemo) to login as a “buyer” in the demo licensing store. You’ll also notice that all LQ Pro account users have access to our friendly “Setup Wizard” which can be Enabled from the Home page. Simply click the Enable text link, and the Setup Wizard will open up and walk you through the whole setup process. To turn it Off, just click the Disable link which appears on the Home page (after you’ve enabled the Wizard) or click the Close Window icon at top right of the pop up Wizard window.

You’ll also notice that at the top right of each Admin page, there’s a Help file icon. It’s the blue one with the big question mark. When you click it, a small page pops up with helpful tips and advice to use the features on each unique account, catalog and sales page. The best way to learn is to take a few minutes to “hop in” and learn as you go. The site is very powerful and interactive, yet easy to navigate (you won’t get lost) and considering the complexities of music publishing and licensing, we’ve also designed the interface to be as intuitive as possible… but your suggestions and feedback are always welcome!

Bottom line? Give us a try and check it out for yourself! If you’re as open minded about taking charge of your own music business and services future as we are, we feel you won’t be disappointed with the features, benefits and advantages you’ll discover by starting to use our LicenseQuote Pro service to enhance your publishing and licensing business future. We hope to meet you and look forward to being your music licensing e-commerce solutions provider!
