Great article from Mike at AI Video School https://www.youtube.com/@aivideoschool. As he puts it:
““AI is not art!” If you’ve posted anything created with AI, you’ve seen this comment. That’s the polite, straight-to-the-point version. According to this line of thinking, AI is also an abomination, satanic, destroying the environment, only for talentless hacks, stealing from true artists, and according to a baffling comment on one of my latest TikTok posts, “intellectual incest.” I don’t know what that means, but it sounds bad and shameful.
Let’s examine this “AI is not art” argument using actual anti-AI comments I’ve received. When I receive hostile comments I never react with hostility, but instead try to show what we have in common. Many anti-AI advocates make good points about what art is, they just haven’t connected how AI expands their definition of art. And for the record, “art” has always felt like a lofty, indefinable term to me and not one I use to describe what I do, but it’s the word I see the most of my anti-AI comments.”
