I guess most of you are aware of this, but I thought I`d share this link anyway. It`s about chord progressions and copyright.
As you know the soundalikes is dangerous if you go to close on the original, and you should be a bit careful about it. But in general it should not be a problem to use well known chord progressions as long as you put a bit of creativity in the melody lines.
