Hello
can someone please tell me what is the preferable mp3 format for production music libraries ,usually I make 320 kpbs 44,100 khz but I’m not sure what bit rate variable vs the other is better and what stereo like eg. joint stereo or normal(itunes player converter)Another doubt I have, is the itunes player enough for converting or should I be using some “more professional” converter ,is there some difference in the mp3 quality after converting ?
and finally what would be ideal file converter (with batch facility)for library composer for various formats eg. mp3,aif etc.
Thank You
Michael NickolasParticipantI like the idea of making the highest possible quality mp3 (320) but each library will vary on the specs they want to see, I’m sure.
I use Sound Forge for converting, it does include batch processing.

Depends on the library as their requirements vary. I’ve been using iTunes to convert without any problems or complaints.

same here
andrejParticipantSo with itunes do you use variable bit rate and 44.100 or 48.000 khz ?
and what about stereo ,is better normal or joint stereo

I mix at 48k-24bit and use r8brain PRO (http://www.voxengo.com/product/r8brainpro/) to convert to 44.1k-16bit. From there to iTunes for mp3 and I use the defaults.
RFactorParticipantSo, is 44.1 16 better before converting to MP3 or should we only convert if requested?
Mark LewisParticipantI suppose every library is different but we generally prefer…
44.1k
16 bit
joint stereo
Variable bit rate is better for playback with html5 preview players.andrejParticipantThank you
so variable rather then constant -
