Hi All, I’m new here and pretty much a novice, I’ve had two deals but haven’t followed up much since I had been making most of my living performing. Covid changed all that. So I’m getting serious and I’ve been offered a new deal, I don’t know if it’s kosher to mention the name or not so I won’t. But their deal is I get 40% of the license fee for non-exclusive contract or 60% for an exclusive contract. My experience in the past is 50/50, writers and publishers. Anyone here understand this arrangement?

Not unusual, all kinds of deals out there. Some as low as 35/65. You just have to decide what’s the best for you.

I read further down the contract and I think I found my answer. The 40%, 60% thing is just related to the license fee and not performance royalties. Duh, sorry to waste your time.
