Hey Guys,
I have music that has been placed on all types of TV shows and has been used in promos for popular TV talk shows etc. I am trying to start building a solid website and promote myself on social media to build a better presence and let people know what i’m working on.
So my question is, What are the guidelines on using video clips from TV that have my music under it?
What are the guidelines on using video clips from TV that have my music under it?
If we are the copyright holder for the music then we have the right to post the music – just the music. However, if we do not own the copyright for the video we do not have the right to post it unless we have clearnace. I was told this from a lawyer at MTV – who I called after they took down several of my MTV videos.
I post the videos anyway – some stay up and some get taken down. The odds of them staying up have been in my favor 🙂
I post only links to videos publicly available, usually hosted on youtube.
