Jay you’re my hero… I started this thing seriously about 3 years ago and have just over 100 tracks in over 15 libraries but have only sold 10 tracks and I have no placements that I know of. To see what you have overcome and accomplished will make me work a little harder. I ‘m about to reach 52 so yes it is nice to know there is a place for our music in this world of Brittneys and Biebers.
Kudos

Beach view sounds amazing – I guess you don’t need to stress over latest plugs – I mean I do HEar lots of people who can’t afford it simply download 20k of gear online in one night alone – terrible hey that it’s possible so easily and to get turbo sound overnight. I find my back against the wall at mo that I must make some serious cash immediately – Ive given myself 6mths to be a good position – I know it’s just blips and blobs of music pasted together – I know for myself the worst person can be myself / the most critical etc. When I began I started with universal and they said they will take anything I do – Im so diff etc – then they rejected one my demos – the only one I didn’t put a limiter on nor compression ! I was so thrown by rejection I started making non exc then it’s just spiralled – I realise now that I had a serious issue with self esteem – I think I no longer have – I’ve seen both my parents diagnosed with cancer within a month of each other this year which really threw me big – both ok now – thank god – but guess totally relate to the whole low fi thing – I mean how mad that my laptop is worth 3-400 quid ! Got good Pmc speakers tho – on my crappy journey I have encourpoarted fitness – I now go 6-7 days a week to gym and work hard – really hard and it’s done so much for me ESP whilst parents ill and I was so down – really hoping it helps translate into self belief in rest of life workwise. I love your story as it sounds a bit magical – I got serious eye strain at mo from to much working – using liquid tears as my eyes are so dry – hope u get magic luck and me also

That is absolutly amazing Jay!
October 31, 2012 at 4:45 am in reply to: Anyone using untraditional/low budget setups and getting placements? #7285Art MunsonKeymasterI use a MacBook Pro that is now worth about £400 – gone down fro. £1500 in short space of five years – soon will be worth £100 I expect – I mean that’s low fi price wise – days were when £400 would have bought you a crappy analogue synth. It’s still more powerful than an Atari ste and all the racks of gear I once had. Do want a new one at some point though as they are so powerful now. disagree entirely with gear doesn’t matter and its what’s inside that counts – i think it matters a lot having a good limiter etc on your tracks – having the latest synths v important – maybe not change it every week but good to check out every 2-3 years at least what breakthrough there has been in technology ie all the sonnox plugs are just so great – if everyone’s slamming loud tracks then its imp to do the same even if its not to taste-just my two pence on it and perhaps wrong but hey just sharing an opinion
Art MunsonKeymasterThank you , so I guess that’s what need to be done.
Oh I hate the paperwork
October 28, 2012 at 10:04 am in reply to: Music Xray are offering a dollar a track to upload 8 tracks to their website. #7242Art MunsonKeymasterWell that’s a waste of time then! Sometimes you get a feeling something isn’t worth the effort and that was my view when I quit Music Xray before so this doesn’t fill me with motivation to go back!
October 28, 2012 at 7:06 am in reply to: Anyone using untraditional/low budget setups and getting placements? #7236Art MunsonKeymasterSome will disagree with but I like to think anything’s possible with just about any gear. It’s all in how you use it.
Back in the 80s the Roland TR808 drum machine came out and was a hit until the DMX and Linn drum machine were released. At that point everyone (including me) got rid of their 808s. They became dirt cheap, were adopted by folks who didn’t have much money and became the mainstay of rap music. Those sounds are still used today.
Art MunsonKeymasterHope your ok – take care
October 27, 2012 at 9:40 pm in reply to: Music Xray are offering a dollar a track to upload 8 tracks to their website. #7229Art MunsonKeymasterNo idea what it’s about as I did have some tracks uploaded a year or 2 ago but closed my account. Maybe they love me so much they want to entice me back. I guess they are trying to get a significant boost to their catalogue numbers.
Art MunsonKeymasterYes. Everyone stay dry and safe!
October 27, 2012 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Music Xray are offering a dollar a track to upload 8 tracks to their website. #7212Art MunsonKeymasterJust got this in email
We’ve got some money for you. We’re not kidding.
Hi there,
We’ve noticed that you’ve never uploaded any of your music to Music Xray.
Today and this weekend, we will give you $1 in credit for each song you upload into your account (up to $8).
Caution, this is only valid for direct uploads, not music we import for you (although automatic imports from SoundCloud are covered under this offer).
We will check your account next week and we will credit your account before Friday November 2nd, 2012
The Music Xray teamArt MunsonKeymasterThanks Anon, you mean over $600 per year or per library ?
In the second case I mean that once I exceed earnings of that number in library (regardless of time period)
Art MunsonKeymasterThis topic is closed. It should have really been under the JP library listing in the first place.
Art MunsonKeymasterGenerally, you can re-submit at a later time.
Art MunsonKeymasterHave you got to let them know its non exc cause I just gave them a bunch of stuff like I used to and didn’t specify it was non Exc
