I had the pleasure of meeting him back in the early 80’s. He was promoting a new female Artist he’d signed to Arista records (Whitney Houston). He is a very approachable, down to earth guy.

I don’t mind the trend toward internet. I myself watch more Netflix than I do regular TV, but the problem is the payout system currently used to compensate composers totally sucks.

As for “add to cart” sites. I started submitting to them over 5 years ago. But for me the money never quite got to the same level as my back-end royalties. Also I find that you have to continuously feed that monster in order to see regular monthly income.

I still get back end royalties from tracks that I wrote over 7 years ago whereas songs I wrote and submitted to RF sites less than 2 years ago have stopped earning me any new money. I don’t know if that’s just because of my music or how that part of the business works.

Thanks Art. This is actually my 5th major Hurricane:
    Inez in 1966
    Gilbert in -1988
    Andrew in 1992
    Wilma in 2005
    Irma- 2017

Maybe it’s time to move out of the Caribbean…. LOL

I’m in South Florida and had a lot of trees and power lines down. Thankfully no flooding. My RV did get hammered by a huge ficus tree and our apartment spent about 24 hours without power. Unfortunately our families down in Key West didn’t fair too well. It’s a total mess down there, but thank God they decided at the last minute to drive north.

A had a couple of games back in 2014 that aired through Direct TC Sports. It paid $3.53 each. I haven’t seen anything new since then.

I have a simple country hoe-down track which I did on Garageband about 7 years ago. So far it’s been on about 15 episodes of “American Pickers”. This one little gem contributes to 75% of my back-end royalties. It’s the gift that keeps giving… 😉

For me 80% of my BMI royalties comes from tracks I submitted to libraries that were once NE, however all those libraries have now gone the exclusive route.

It’s still early to tell, but I have seen a small amount of placements on tracks I’ve submitted as Exclusive within the last couple of months.
