Kubed, the statements was already posted on the 21. Maybe you didn’t earn royalties this quarter. It takes about 6 to 9 months after a show been aired to receive royalties for that show,

Man…I see a trend here and its not a good one…

First production companies stop paying for music, then they figure out they are getting music for free, then why not make some money out of it, right?

What next, they will start taking 100% publishing and 50% writer share?
I guess the next step is taking all publishing money, and leave the writer with just the credit.

Yes…I dont think its gonna work, too much messing around…it takes time for the editor to piece this together and then the post sound guy to mix it…too much work.

I didnt talked about Peter music but about music in gerneral those days. If you guys think 28K and 50% writer share is not enough then fine, I think and no metter how good the music is or what deals they have lined up for Peter music, for an anknown writer like Peter, 28K is an amazing deal and I don’t think he should be counter offering just to be “right” and get the full writer share. Of course they will make way more money than the 28K, this is their business. If they will not make it with Peter music, they will make it with another composer music and believe me, I know a few trailer guys that will gladly take this deal. Can Peter make by himself more then 28K for those tracks? Maybe, and maybe not. So why risk it?

Also, the “writer share” is not holy. OK you wrote the music, big deal, you know how many people write music now? Too much. It is all supply and demand. You need to adapt, and by being too attached to the writer share or any other aspect of this biz, you are definitely not adapting, and I thank you for that, more money for me.

royalty collector guy, he is getting 1500$ per track upfront, you know what is 1500$ per track upfront those days? Please. I dont look at this as writer or publisher share, there is 100% (or 200% to be excat) that is on the line. Now, you choose if you want to convert those 50% future royalties of the “writer share” into money now, thats is your choice. It is known that musicians are not good business people. Maybe if he will use that future royalties of the “writer share” now he can grow bigger and make more money instead of risking the deal for more money down the line. You need to grow steady and slowley and not asking for too much for the first time.

I think, dont push it. 1500 per track is a lot of money for an unknowon composer. Dont ask for that 100% writer share either. You dont want to come out as greedy for the first deal you do with them. For the next deal or deals then you may be able to ask for more, especially when your music will indid place and they will know it is safe to give you more next time. Take care.

180,000…hard to believe. This is really bad for RF site. They are now giving ton of tracks away for free…If this trend will continue, the youtube client base of the RF sites will start to shrink. The upfront fees for TV broadcast use are almost gone, now youtube
“broadcast yourself” is the next royalty based platform. No more upfront fees for youtube videos.
