A library registered some of my (non-exclusive) tracks with YouTube Content ID. I emailed them a couple of years ago asking them if I could have these tracks removed from the Content ID system, but they didn’t reply, and I didn’t follow up on that. Should I try again to get those tracks removed before signing up with Identifyy?

Thank you Pat. I’ll email the publishers and ask them to whitelist the tracks.

That’s great. I can never play a harmonica at home because my dog starts howling as soon as I start playing! Maybe the lower pitch of a bass harmonica would be more agreeable to her. I checked it out on youtube, it does look like fun. I’d imagine you could also get some really interesting sounds out of it with some effects plugins.

Some of my favourite pieces of music have been created by ‘loop-stitching’. DJ Shadow springs to mind.

I forgot to mention in my initial post that there are some interesting Kontakt instruments that people have made with the OLPC sounds, and I was wondering how the attribution would work if I used one of these instruments in a track.

Reaper was recommended to me by a professional producer who had changed from Cubase to Reaper. He had nothing but praise for Reaper. From what I’ve heard, it doesn’t have many limitations, if any.

Thanks Edouardo, and thank you everyone else too for your feedback, it has been helpful.

Don’t be disappointed if you have no views on P5, by the way. I don’t think their view counter functions properly. I’m still on 0 views for all my tracks and I’ve had some sales there.

I could be wrong, but if Improv is dealing with non-exclusive libraries then isn’t it better to register the tracks with GEMA himself?

I register all my tracks with my PRO (PRS) as soon as I finish producing them. The non-exclusive libraries don’t register my tracks, unless they re-title the tracks in which case they register the re-titled names with their PRO.
