  1. Hmm..
After browsing the legal firms in Monterey (with concrete intentions) I found my “problem track” succesfully removed from CP (an email notification was revieced).
And I remembered the ability of samurai to feel the bad future in battle which name is The Wind of Death.

  2. Ok, here is the story:
I uploaded some tracks on CP but after some time I decided to remove my tracks from this library (luck that I did not sent a signed contract to them).
CP’s contract is in perpetuity meaning that there is no way to get your tracks off.
Knowing that I did not sign any contract I asked them to remove my stuff but had no answer during a couple of months (must say that I sent several copies of my letters via different emails to ensure deliverance).
My tracks are still on air on CP without my permission.
Want to ask – if there is someone who had successfull experience in copyright infringement legal affairs?
What are the ways I can protect my intelectual property can be useful in such situation?
    Thanks in advance!

    • Our contracts are not in perpetuity. You can remove your tracks at any time. It’s been that way for over 10 years.

Your tracks were removed as requested. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get to certain requests. Track removal is something that takes longer than a question about say what kinds of prices to set your tracks at.

      Thanks for your report.

      Best regards,
      Evan Evans

      • Hello, Evan!
Please remove my tracks from CuePop – they had “suddenly” appeared on the site!
I sent a letter 2-3weeks ago with no reaction, hope you will recieve a notification about this topic on MLR.
        Thanks!

      • I am in the process with re-removing my tracks from CuePop – still have no answer from them.
Had a very valuable bad experience – “Do not put your cat (alogue) into every hole”.

  3. Wow! The site is alive! But…
I feel very bad about CuePop – I wrote to them about a month ago (and just today to all the emails on their website!) with ask to terminate agreement – no answer.
Will wait for some days – if nothing will happen – will try more aggressive measures…

  4. It seems the site is dead.
Error messages when clicking on track previews.
I wrote some letters to CP more than a week ago and still have no answer.
Does anybody know what happened with this distributor?

  5. Evan Evans has once again show the reason why not to use Cue Pop or Composers Collective. That’s right he runs both and both models are fails. He said up above that the “Donation Link” would be a priority to have taken down. It’s still there on the Main page as of the 2nd of Feb. Which in my opinion would have been the first place to take it off of. He’ll give you a $25 iTunes card for your trouble of uploading 100 music tracks, which is most likely the only thing you MIGHT get from either one. You have to have 3 songs rated to have more approved. Good luck with that. Now if I submitted 100 tracks to cue pop I would only have 3 show up on my profile and 97 other tracks sitting behind those pending approval and a iTunes card worth 25 bucks. I very much recommend you steer clear of this one.

  6. CuePop is back! It’s been up and running for about 10 months now, after a 2 year blackout.

It’s a great idea, and business model. Due to hacker attacks, it has been difficult to run and sustain. You can’t imagine how difficult that made things for us.

During the 2 year hacker blackout, we built up cash reserves in preparation for a step-by-step relaunch. The last thing we were working on 2 years ago was our payment module, to automatically pay contributors. Until this is done, we have to process payments manually. However, this fall we will complete the payment module. We first had to spend many months patching all the security holes that hackers could get through.

I’m also happy to report that 1000s of music placements have occurred on CuePop and those composers are receiving royalties from BMI, ASCAP, PRS and other PROs for those placements.

So, Dansen, to say no one is getting paid is just not true. We manually pay upfront fees and everyone is getting paid royalties for broadcast projects.

S R Dhain, that is not our business model. Tim is mistaken. We added the ability to set prices on your tracks over 3 years ago. That said, the library music business itself isn’t a very good business model, that is if you are trying to make a living at it. But it’s a great way to supplement your income.

Tim, regarding the non-profit comment, we just haven’t prioritized taking down the donation link. It’s on a lot of pages and emails, and we’re putting all our resources into getting composers paid. I hope you feel I have made a good decision in the order of things to get done.

    Sincerely,
    Evan Evans

P.S. You get a $25 iTunes card for uploading 100 music tracks.

  7. Well, to his credit the whole idea behind CuePop is that people will use your music without having to pay a sync fee. So of course you won’t get paid up front. You’re probably right though, it’s also VERY unlikely that you’ll ever get back end royalties from a CuePop placement. The truly disgusting thing about that operation is that the website acts as though it’s somehow a nonprofit deal and accepts PayPal donations from people who use it to find music–and that music goes to CuePop, NOT to composers.

  8. Since this is a company that belongs to Evan Evans, you likely will not get paid for your cues. That’s not a slam on Evan, it’s simply the truth – that’s the way he chooses to do business. Good luck if you sign anything with them.
