  1. Communication was great until I told him I don’t have time to do all of the edits your requesting. I told him in a polite way but still all communication on his end stopped.

    I feel like saying…sorry…your library has no service record.. I don’t work for free.

  2. Well I’m getting less and less enamored of Abstract Sound. Initially they were excited about getting my music and sent me a contract right away. Once I had some questions about the contract the conversation stopped. I’ve sent two or three e-mails with no reply. I’ve also offered them access to MLR to answer any questions and to clear up any issues, again, with no response.

    One thing to watch out for. What they state on their web site about Blanket Licenses is NOT what is in their contract.

    • Alarms go off in my lawyer brain when terms differ, AND when a party becomes silent if questioned about clauses in their contract.

      It’s possible that things changed and that their website hasn’t caught up with their contract, or vice versa. But, they could tell you that instead of ignoring you.

  3. Did you guys ever decide to go with Audiotrove? I was thinking about requesting to submit.
    Non-exclusive?? Not much info on these guys here or their site either for that matter.

    • Art makes a good point. And I’m also still on the fence.

      The info sheet they sent said Audiotrove will be “one of the first music libraries to target the digital advertising market.” That line made me assume they were mostly going for new media / Web placements. To be fair, when I mentioned that in my reply they said they are “aggressively going after both broadcast and digital”. And as I mentioned before, they seem to have big connections in the ad industry proper.

  4. I’m torn about this one. I submitted and got an offer to send tracks. But retitling combined with a 35/65 split on sync fees feels like a tough, PumpAudio-esque pill to swallow. These guys definitely seem like pros, and they apparently have major connections in the ad industry (founder is John Keaney, formerly of JWT New York). I’ve only submitted to maybe 40 libraries ever, but most deals I’ve seen have a better split on sync fees (almost always 50/50 for non-exclusive). I asked if it was possible to change the terms, they said no. Not really sure what to do here. What do y’all think?

    • Yeah, I like these guys too but am torn. They do give you 25% of the publishing income which many do not. My concern was what happens if they direct license to a network that does not have an agreement with the PROs.
