I would like to choke some cymbal hits, but when I do, the chokes are too abrupt. I would like a bit of after ambiance on them. Instead, it’s a dry and unnatural sound when I choke a particular hit. It there a way to vary how much “choke” is applied?

I asked this question over on the xln forums, but havn’t gotten any replies. I know some of you use add here, so I thought I try and pick your brains.

Hmm, that’s never bothered me and I use chokes a lot. I don’t think it’s adjustable though and as you know the cymbals are in the overheads so not sure how you might fake it. If the cymbals had their own output you could dial in a bit of ambiance right on the choke. That would be a tweakers delight!
