    Hi all;

    I have a song that has (cleared) samples in it. They are from Omnisphere VST and used in a song.
    They are sung words like ‘ooh’ ‘aaah’ ‘dah’ etc; kind of a jazzy scat phrase.
    From a copyright/songwriting standpoint, would these be considered lyrics? Would BMI/ASCAP need to have ooh ahh part of a lyric?
    Or is this just an instrumental with the sampled phrases considered just another instrument?

    Thanks
    Mike

    Depends on the Library.
    I have been getting a LOT of libraries that will ask me to provide a lyric sheet, even if I am writing the same thing over and over..

    Also, make sure you have clearances for sure on your “Sampled Dialog!!”

    So you need a lyric sheet even if the song has, say, ‘ooh ooh ‘ a dozen times in the piece?

    According to Omnisphere the samples are not a problem.
    “” You are also restricted from giving away or posting online any loops or samples created using Omnisphere. However, you are able to use Omnisphere in all musical recording applications without paying any additional licenses. “”

    From a BMI/ASCAP stand point will they require a lyric sheet also? I’m new to this..

    Thanks
    Mike

    No, you will not need to submit a lyric sheet.
