For what it’s worth, here are a few observations and reflections (many of which are obvious, but I’ll state them anyway) after receiving my 4Q23 BMI statement:
4Q is historically my weakest quarter (by quite a bit). This one was better though.
Internet AV income continues to slowly rise; network income continues to slowly decline.
Some “good” (long, VI, lots of viewers, etc.) streaming placements pay a shockingly low amount, others are OK. I can’t figure it out.
Sometimes 10 year old tracks get new placements.
Some movies and shows keep running for years and years.
My international revenue grows really slowly.
My income increases, but I get fewer new placements than I did 5-8 years ago even though my catalog has grown.
About the same here network down, streaming up but laughable and International up.
Best quarter for me yet… by just a little. I wonder how long royalties would keep coming in after we die.
