    Hi folks,

I was asking this in another thread before but ain`t got`n answer….:-)

Can anyone explain a non English native speaker what you guys mean with ” gratis blanket licensing”. I read that many libraries do this now but maybe I have a different imagination what it could mean. Thanx….

Hi Wildman, it’s a license to use a piece of music (or a whole catalog of music) with no upfront license fee. The only money being made will be on the back end PRO payments. So, it would only be given if the music was to be used for broadcast.

Ok. Thanx very much for your answer. That is then how it is with normal European exclusive libraries. Maybe it`s different in the U.S., but in Europe it`s very seldom to get an upfront licence fee. You`ll get your pro royalties, if the track is used in TV, and normally a 50/50 share with direct syncs but nothing upfront…
