When you sell a track on a platform like Pond5, how do you know where the song is used? Are there any tools to figure out where your sold tracks end up?

It has always bugged me a bit that my music is being used somewhere in the world, but I never get to view the finished product. It would be cool to see where my music ends up, just out of curiosity.

I’d imagine that most Pond5 sales end up in YouTube videos. But, sadly, I don’t think that YouTube has a “reverse search engine” where you can upload an audio file and be given a list of YouTube videos that contain a snippet of this audio. Also, buyers rarely type the track title and/or the artist name in their video description (nor are they required to), so you cannot simply search YouTube for these keywords either.

Pond5 does not provide any of the customer’s contact info when they purchase a license to one of your tracks, so you can’t contact the buyer directly and ask them, as you have no idea who they are.

It seems that there is pretty much nothing that we can do to track down Pond5 sales (no pun intended)…

Please, do not post library specific questions in the forum.

This needs to be posted on the Pond5 thread here https://musiclibraryreport.com/p-to-p/pond5/.

The reason is to keep all library specific questions in their individual listing.
