    Hi,

I’ve been asked by a library I work with to quote on a slightly unusual project – preparing the voice overs, music and mix for an album of 10 tracks that will be used as background tracks within TV etc programmes.

The deal being offered is 50/50 performance split, 100% mechanical royalties buy out with voice over artist costs being covered, but I’m unsure how I should calculate what to charge for the mechanical buy out side of things… any ideas of how I should do that?

    Thanks,

    Cato

Is there a formula for calculating potential mechanical royalties for this kind of thing? Something like estimating the average for a year and multiplying by 15 years? Just trying to find the best way to estimate…
