I was wondering what advice folks could give on submitting somber, minimal tension tracks to royalty free libraries. These are tracks generally written towards , for example , like the television market. Do you bother to also submit these to RF libraries, and what has the track record been for that? Generally I try to write stuff that I think may be useful in both – tension is kind if its own niche thing though in my opinion and am wondering what our more experienced folks thought. I plan on writing several more of these this year, is one reason for asking. Thanks for responding.

My own experience has been that tension cues don’t sell well on RF sites, but they do sell a little. Much better getting those in the hands on TV centric libraries, I think.

That was the way I was leaning also, thanks Mark.

For what it’s worth, this simple Minimal Music cue has sold 18 times via RF libraries. Don’t know if that is good or bad for your purposes. It’s really the only minimalist cue I have, I don’t usually create in this style.

Is interesting, thinking on this…yes this was pretty similar in style to the track I as thinking of. Actually is a track called “Tracked” on my SC page. And I am kind of a fan of the Reznor/Atticus Ross stuff.
