Can anyone share what kind of back end the NBA channel generates? I’m ASCAP and I expect it’s a survey only channel but I haven’t seen any cue sheets yet or $$ yet. I ask because someone there has taken a liking to one of my tracks and uses it a lot. Tunesat will pick it up 5-15 times per day.
Should I plan on buying a cup of coffee or a software upgrade?

Look at it this way as well. This will lead you to even bigger things by “listing your placements for other Libraries/Catalogs to see!!”
Congratulations, and keep it moving!!
October 19, 2017 at 10:28 am #28679KubedParticipantNice to hear that!Same story here,1 of my tracks was used widely during summer in the NBA channel.About 2-4 placements daily and each one of them got 1-2 repeats as well.It was used for the after-game commentary i think.
I’m with BMI,we’ll see how it goes.Congrats Alan!

October 22, 2018 at 8:31 am #31097AlanParticipantHere’s a follow up (wow, it’s been a year)
– Tunesat has detected 81 individual placements on the NBA channel for a total of 346 airings. Earliest was 4/2017, most recent was last week.
– About 50 of those placements have cue sheets filed with ASCAP
– I have received ZERO royalties from ASCAPI spoke with an ASCAP representative over the summer who said I should see some payments on October 2018…..nope.
I will vent some more about ASCAP’s response today here:

Here are some solid NBA Channel numbers for you White_Stripes:
Time frame – Fall 2017 to Fall 2018
# of placements – 92, durations from 0:12 to 4:55
# of airings – Tunesat picked up about 450 airings
# of cue sheets filed with ASCAP- 58
Total income – $0Did I contact ASCAP? Yes
Their reply? Sorry, it didn’t hit the survey, too small of a market. I’ve cone through the survey dates a few times and have never seen the NBA channel listed.
ASCAP Surveys can be found here:
https://www.ascap.com/help/royalties-and-payment/payment/cablesurveysIt’s particularly annoying when you learn a 2+ minute placement missed a survey by a matter of hours.
Sorry for the bad news White_Stripes
July 21, 2020 at 7:54 am #35443White_StripesParticipantoh damn, that survey system sounds horrible.
Im with BMI though, so lets see how things will go there.July 21, 2020 at 7:58 am #35444johnnyboyParticipantYeah, it’s a bummer. I had 150 cue sheets turn on for a news show. Told me it didn’t show up on their radar. I think it’s time for this crap to stop. If a cue sheet is turn in, it should be enough to get paid. I sent a letter to Paul Williams awhile back. Didn’t receive a reply.
July 21, 2020 at 8:51 am #35446Michael NickolasParticipantSame here, zero payouts on at least 100 cue sheets. (ASCAP)
