I’m looking to get a new workstation desk and could use some suggestions. Nothing huge, just enough for my midi keyboard, pod, babyface pro and couple flat screen monitors. I’m leaning towards this https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/WS7500Black
Any other suggestions?

No offense, but it looks poorly made. As well, you will need Speaker Stands, and a Keyboard stand. I would not suggest putting your Keyboard on that lower surface..
Questions:
1) Have you tried your local Craigslist to see if someone has a “Music, Midi/Control Surface Workstation Stand”?2) Have you tried Ebay?
I think you can get something really nice, and more to suit your needs if you think about “Pre-owned” (like that a lot better than saying second hand.lol)

January 28, 2018 at 10:05 pm #29396Art MunsonKeymasterCheck out https://omnirax.com/technical/products/prostation-jr/. I’ve had this for years and it’s held up really well. A bit pricey though and I would change the configuration to a flat top (for dual monitors) instead of a cutaway.

top shelf for wide or dual monitors and speakers; rack spaces for preamp, etc; and storage on the bottom for firewire drives, sustain pedaletc. And very compact.

That’s the one I got when building my new studio four years ago.

January 29, 2018 at 8:44 am #29402LAwriterParticipantIf you can afford it, IMO, nothing beats the Sterling Modular offerings unless you custom build something. Even then, it would be tough to make something better/cheaper. My finish work carpenter was even blown away by the design.
They are customizable, an ergonomic masterpiece, and sonically angled to avoid standing waves and reflections in what is arguably the most important piece of hardware (sonically) in your studio. One of the reasons they are found in so many mastering facilities.
I don’t like their “silver” / modern stock design. For a few hundred more, I did mine in african rosewood, and it’s spectacular….

I might have to get rid of my Omnirax for that.

February 1, 2018 at 8:01 pm #29429Jeff LaityGuestThis is the high end for when you make it big:

I built my own a few years back:
If I did it again I would make the keyboard slide in and out so I can work on just the desk.
