What has your experience been collecting PRO money when you music has been used for TV promos?

Not very exciting, promos on NBC pay royalties like background cues on cable reality shows, nothing to get excited about.

How bout cable as opposed to major network?

Those paid nothing. So, not a good experience.

I’ve had a very different experience than RCG. The few promo usages I’ve had on major networks paid a couple hundred for each one. Mine were used for How I Met Your Mother and The Mentalist promo spots.

dC…. We’re talking PRO, not sync, right? I was only asking about PRO.

I had an ABC Network Christmas promo many moons, like 15 years, ago…an arrangement of Jingle Bells. As I recall the backend was about $200.

ASCAP’s paid me about the same as Michael for network promos. Small amounts per usage, but they probably only run a couple of seconds. $18.59 seems to be the cap, maybe that’s for 5 seconds of music.

Advice, yes, I’m talking about PRO. I believe they were for roughly 75, 200, and 400.
