I am signing some music with a UK based library, and they suggested registering with the MCPS so I can collect mechanical royalties. All of my writers are currently ASCAP only. I believe its going to be around 80 American dollars for each writer to register. Does anyone have any experience with MCPS, is it worth it? I don’t want each writer to pay 80 bucks if it collects pennies over 3 years. Its an EX deal so maybe over time it would become worth it? Would this mean I would still collect performance royalties through ASCAP? A bit confused about that.
