Yes, without them we probably wouldn’t be here but I wonder if they could look at this post and think about how they could improve or at least make my life easier..
The little things that bug me…
1. Everyone wants different formats. 48k aifs, mp3 320, 44.1.wavs.
Every album I upload I have about a billion folders all in the different formats needed. Thank god for batch converting!2. Upload, tag, describe, no thanks
Some companies have the bizarre notion of making me upload all the music, describe, tag and all that work which takes ages, for them only to not accept the tracks. Why cant i just send a link and tell me if you want them?! Easier for everyone.3. No cut/paste
For each album I have a master excel SS. This allows me to copy/ paste into all the bits i need to during an upload. Some companies however, like their keywords entered one at a time. After 20 tracks I’m about ready to stop typing the same thing in OVER AND OVER!4. Email. No Reply
Some companies seem to never reply to my emails. In order to chase payments I’ve had to call international. Actually, this is more one company…Not one reply ever….5. Contracts.
Some companies seem to have an issue with contracts being scanned / emailed. Yep. Print and post is the only way. Or fax….which seems even older!…..international…
6. awaiting approval.
Some are better than this than others. I’m sure we all know the worst offender. But uploading, tagging, keywords, etc for the tracks to be sat there for 3 months…..7. No Track removal
The tracks i made 6 years ago sound awful next tot he tracks I’ve made recently. But yet I can’t remove the old ones that never sell? You get better with every album, but a potential client may hear one super old track and move on…i like to keep things fresh where I can8. No Batch Uploading.
This should be perhaps at the top of my list. So frustrating doing one track at a time. Let me send you them all together!!!OK, so what did i miss?
I love music. I love writing it. I thank all the Libraries who have my music with them. This is a wry take after a frustrating month uploading the same music….we can always be better!
Spoh

September 11, 2013 at 2:35 pm #12191BIGG ROMEGuestI think if there was pack made by everyone that would all accept the same format life would be easier.
Some guys go way over board when they want meta data. There is one library we ALL know is a pain. [Removed, inappropriate and not relevant]
On the format issue, I think .wav should just be the standard, since that is what they use for when they choose to pick a song for placement.
