    Hi everyone.

I have recently been hearing about some catalogues that offer upfront fees of around £150 but get the composer to sign over 99% of writers share of performance and mechanicals. They say that they account the writer twice yearly where all the writers share out 10% of the label revenue.

Has anybody else heard of these kind of deal? Is it dodgy or just a new type of business model?

    That’s £150 per track.

I’ve also heard that these catalogues ask the writer to sign a non disclosure agreement.

I’m kind of at a loss as to why anyone would sign away their writers, publishers and master rights for £150. That’s crazy IMO.

At this point, I’m not willing to do it for $1500US while KEEPING 100% writers.
