Has your success in placing music on tv become part of your marketing mix in promoting yourself as a musician? Has it opened other doors for you?

I am getting close to the point where I can start paring down my day job, and have an opportunity, potentially , to make some money working my day profession on a part time basis that will enable me to focus more on music. I know I could concentragte on builidng that, but really, what I want to do is start paring that day job down, and spending my last remaining 20 years or so focusing on music (I’m 56).

One part of this is looking at the possibility of recording backing tracks with all the skills Ive learned in production, and playing covers and maybe a small handful of original music, and just playing regionally, like within two hours of my home base. I sing reasonably ok, and am working on building up more of that and booking myself, say, within two hours, of my home base as a one man band. I’m looking at the possibility of a mix of casinos, and decent club gigs,, fairs, festivals. Anyone out there doing this? I know personally some guys who do do it, but any thoughts from members here? And selling your own CD’s as part of the mix?

( I have done n acoustic solo in the past this would just be a growth of that). I can also play a bit of keys, enough to do that for a song or two a set.
