Just to clarify, not talking about myself here. But I just had a local someone reach out as far as where to start. But I am hesitant to recommend libraries that are known to do lots of low paying or reality show placements, because the production and the quality, from my perspective , is way beyond that and i feel I would do them a disservice. But would be really nice to give them some good advice, and in general, point them in the right direction, although they are newcomers, the quality of this stuff is superb and when I started talking to them, was blown over by the fact that they are also local. Not a requisite but would be flattered to involve myself in some small way with their project, although their genre – synthpop – is a bit out of my comfort zone, and as I said, the production value is there ( in other words, no need for a producer)

Good morning. I would say this.. I would start with “several non-exclusives”. Even if they are “Reality based, or low paying” take the work! Build your confidence, and your portfolio by getting a lot of placements. Those placements will lead to bigger things!!

Do a MASSIVE amount of research/studying of the exclusive libraries, and start pitching after you have gotten your confidence level up. Be VERY selective, and stingy with whom you provide exclusive catalog content; until you see that your tracks will not just sit around waisting away.’

To run concurrent with the non-exclusive libraries would be “RF/Pay Per Cue” libraries, and sites. Select a few, and make sure that you are not infringing on anything contractually (Pond5 would be a top choice to start) with each one of those..

    Just my Dos Peso’s..
