Also some good info here:
PolarSoundsParticipantI think in most cases its most efficient and easiest to use your countrys PRO. So if theres no special reason to not use your local PRO I would just use them.
PolarSoundsParticipantOr you can use a service like WeTransfer. I would guess most libraries don’t even open a mail with attachments from a unknown mail adress, if they should get through the spam filter.
PolarSoundsParticipantThanks Kubed, that actually answers my question. The library is Mibe then I guess, I didn’t recognize the track titles at first. Thanks again!
PolarSoundsParticipantwhen I click on “most popular” at Pond5 and AS, the tracks are uniformly thin and seem to have aural exciter… sizzle highs.
Maybe its the lo-res mp3 encoding used for previews you are hearing?
PolarSoundsParticipantObviously you don’t have to give names but can I ask people in general, how many libraries they are in and how many they consider to be consistent?
Im in my second year doing library music and I’m with 8 RF libraries now with about 300 tracks. For different reasons I don’t have the same tracks in every library and not the same amount of tracks so its not a “fair” comparison.
I’ve had 0 sales with 2 of them. The most consistent library earns me more per month than all the other combined per year.
If the sales continues as they are now (and thats a big if, I know) I will by the end of this year have doubled my income from last year.
I have at same time submitted about 150 tracks to exclusive and non-exlusive broadcast libraries, but its to early to see any results from them I guess.February 14, 2016 at 9:22 am in reply to: which licensing models do you make the most/least amount of income?? #24035PolarSoundsParticipantYou might want to keep looking. As I type., there are full length songs on P5 for $1. It is a race to the bottom and some are being overly optimistic. It’s a good time to up your game and move to higher ground.
I’m seeing that too. How is that possible when the minimum price is 15$ for music and 2$ for sfx?
PolarSoundsParticipantIf you zoom into the front of an mp3 you will see that gap which will obviously be greater at longer lengths. To be fair I imported the mp3 back into Logic and it sounded fine but beware they are not the same length.
I tried to import a Mp3 loop into Logic and repeat the region. After 3000 repeats I could tell the region was of the grid, so you are absolutely correct that its a bit longer. This was new to me. I still think in most cases it would be fine though, haven’t had any complains yet 🙂
PolarSoundsParticipantIts also not tecnically possible to make loop able mp3, it has to be a wav or similar. If you convert your perfect looped wav file to an mp3 it will be a tiny bit longer and not loop correctly.
I’ve not experienced that with my loops. I bounce WAV and Mp3 simultaneously from Logic and they are the exact same length.
I usually make a VERY short fade in and fade out of the looped audio region to avoid clicks.
PolarSoundsParticipantAs someone mentioned, moving the mic closer could eliminate some room sound. I would probably position the mic towards where the neck meets the body on the guitar to avoid the potential boomy sound you can get in front of the sound hole.
If you haven’t already, try to experiment with the different polar patterns of the mic. The omni pattern will give you more of the room sound. If thats not a desireable sound, try using the cardioid or figure 8 pattern.
SE Electronics have some reflection filters which mounts on the mic stand, I haven’t any personal experience with these though.PolarSoundsParticipantGreat sounds and cool track!
PolarSoundsParticipantThe saxes are great! Did you get the Kontakt version or the SWAM version?
PolarSoundsParticipantGot tired of waiting for that, which is why I bought SWING. The two libraries are like night and day. You can definitely so some serious arranging with the Straight Ahead brass. Live and learn.
The exact same reason I bought Swing! And its by no means a useless library as it has many useful patches.
PolarSoundsParticipantThey use samples recorded in a anechoic chamber as a source for the physical modeling, I think. As the name implies 🙂 But there are no sampled legato or articulations.
PolarSoundsParticipantStraight Ahead samples are also coming out with a jazz horns library and judging by the demos I’ve heard it would be great for big band. It should have been released May this year but are delayed though, so not sure when it will be available.

Like Michael, I also got Swing! by project Sam and got a bit disappointed. Its not really flexable enough to do convincing big band pieces on its own, I can’t do it anyway. But it has a nice Fender jazz bass and a pedal steel guitar I have used a lot.
I have most of the Sample Modeling instruments and they have to be the most playable sampled instruments out there. They all sound great as solo instruments, but I haven’t been able to get them to sound as good in sections. I get some phasing problems when the instruments are playing unison. But I’m sure its user error cause the demos on their site sounds good. -
