Thanks Beatslinger! Definitely had fun doing most of those but I can see how it comes out better in those two you mentioned.
That comment about the drums, ouch, gonna have to sit with that for a while 😉 I honestly always considered the beat crafting to be a strong point but maybe I’ve gotten complacent in the days since I was obsessed with hip-hop production. I haven’t been following hip hop production as much recently but I get that it’s important in the library music world. Do you have any examples of beat production I could seek to emulate?
I probably rely a bit heavily on the Native Instruments stuff, I love Battery 4 for hip-hop and a lot of those are NI Abbey Road- 60s, 70s, etc. which I also consider to be a great sound but maybe I’m stuck in the past haha. I have been working on my compression, mixing, mastering, etc. but I know there are a ton of tricks for getting drums to sound punchier, heavier, etc.
Thanks again, I appreciate the honest feedback even if it stings a bit!

“Pond5: RF, lower tier, non-broadcast uses such as videos, indie films, corporate. Not very hard to get tracks accepted.

SK and JP: Reality TV background cue focused. Middle-bar to get into. Mainly exclusive right now. Sync fees less common, mainly back end PRO. (JP sometimes gets sync fee money)

Musicbed: Higher-bar, difficult to get into. Film/TV, advertising. Might be more sync fee focused.”

This is helpful, thanks Advice! I’m curious what the rate of re-applying for these might be, e.g., if you’re rejected from Musicbed or Jingle Punks. They don’t seem to have any guidelines about how often you can resubmit as an artist. Is it worth it to keep submitting every six months or a year if you feel you have better material and/or in a different style? Or better to just move on to other libraries?
