  2. Hi All,

For those of you composers staying with us – a HUGE thank you. We know we can’t do it without you guys.
Secondly – we KNOW the site is buggy. Trust us – this is much more frustrating for us than it is you.
We are also raising funding at the moment for the site and I am getting some support staff, so communication, review times and general support will soon be MUCH improved.

Hang in there guys. Big things coming.

Thanks again for your support. Here’s to a great 2015!

    • Hi Mike,

I’ve stuck with you since 13th May 2013 when I uploaded my entire catalogue and have not received one payment. I’ve not seen one sale registered in my account (although you told me there had been sales but I hadn’t reached the threshold) nor did you get back to me after various repeated attempts asking you to close my account. The payment you mention earlier in this thread never reached me, but my paypal email is correctly set up in my Beat Orchard account.

This isn’t about being negative about your service, this is about you being honest and open with your contributors, the very people who you are thanking for their commitment to you. When people get angry, it’s because of the radio silence and the lack of response to requests such as removing tracks.

Why you don’t have a facility to let composers delete their songs in the admin end is what worries me as it’s common in most RF libraries to be able to manage your own catalogue. Hearing stories of people like Adi being unable to close his account until he got so desperate doesn’t portray the best image of Beat Orchard I’m afraid.

A word of advice, if you’re looking to have a solid commitment from composers to your library and your ‘clients like the consistency’ like you mentioned in a previous email, I would recommend you set the terms out very clearly so that composers are clear that they are ‘locking up’ their tracks for at least 6 months. In all honesty, I’d have more faith in the ‘big things coming’ if I saw any progress whatsoever over the 20 months I’ve had 127 files with you.

Like Adi, I’d appreciate you deleting my account please. No disrespect to you, but from a business perspective, this just isn’t working for me.

      Taco

    • Looking forward to it. I’ve been with you guys for a while and have had a few sales. Pretty optimistic for what the future brings. Hopefully all the bugs get worked out soon, because that would be the biggest problem from my end.

    • Hey Mike Brown
I am pretty sure you are not reading this. In the very unlikely case you are, I urge you to pay the money you still owe to the composers that sold tracks through Beat Orchard, myself included.

  3. hey guys ! I must you to see that http://cloud.agsoundtrax.com/ZKjL

I have been passed the 6 months period something about 4 months ago ! I have asked mike nicely to remove my tracks ! and he keeps ignoring my request ! after promising me on the 20th on December that he will remove my track ! now im asking you guys !!! should we trust that person ! well… I dont !!

please help me to ! ! ! I had 4 sales there and im willing to give him my money back ! what the hellllll is wrong with this guy??? OMG

  4. beat orchard.
    one word: never.

staff is awful with contributors, only when they signup they’re very cooperative, but after that, just awful.

the site is so full of bugs and unprofessional (not talking about the design, which is great, but im talking from a contributor’s perspective, that has to upload stuff).

got hacked by somebody a month ago, but the staff was terrible, again.

now it’s supposedly fixed, but it sux (the functionality, on the contributor;s side) even more than before.

the review process takes unpredictibly long, you just sit and wait and have not idea when you’ll have the submitted tracks approved or rejected.

the whole thing, from a contributors point, its just so ludicrous i had to delete my account.

but guess what, i cant, i have to wait 6 months so that they remove my stuff, since they dont have a delete button on uploaded items or an edit button. which is ok, since that is stated since u sign up (the fact that u have to wait 6 months), but sill, the site is just too much.

everything about it seems so wrong.

i just wonder who designed its functionality.
    purely ridiculous.

    • We have deleted your account. We no longer have time for this kind of negativity and constant bombardment of emails and bad vibes.
Best of luck with your music.

We now only want to work with composers who are serious about music and patient with their approach.

  5. I joined this library recently and uploaded a handful of tracks. For the longest time, I thought my tracks hadn’t been reviewed because they all said “Awaiting Review” on my “My Uploads” page. However, I was clicking around the other day and clicked on my Profile, and there all of my tracks were, live on the site. I searched through a few categories to confirm, and sure enough they were live. So I guess it was just a bug that it said my tracks still say “Awaiting Review”. It’s unfortunate I don’t know when they were approved, but I guess that’s a minor thing. I’m happy they are live and will be watching how they do and uploading more soon.

    • I don’t know. Mike seems pretty friendly and is at least responding to people. That shows transparency and patience. Thise are valuable traits.

Beat Orchard cannot force people to buy the music. All they can do is provide a neat and tidy marketplace for consumers to come to. The site looks great and the music is quality. i just don’t see what the uproar is about.

These things take time. It might take a year or two or more to get steady sales. But the important thing is to keep creating great music, keep uploading it, keep working with Beat Orchard to improve the site, and be patient.

Please, give this site a chance! It seems relatively young. How is it going to gain critical mass if everyone keeps leaving? Don’t be so quick to jump ship. You were given a chance to sell music here. It is very hard to get into many other libraries. Be thankful of the opportunity you have received.

      • DI ! No, they don’t respond to people most of the time, as I’ve learned, and that’s the main issue that is turning people off. I too am having a nightmare with communication,I have never experienced anything this bad. It was suppose to be fixed the last time this issue come up many months ago, but nothing has been done about it. Various aspects of the site are still not working properly. Beat Orchard has been around long enough to correct these problems. We composers have been telling Mike what the problems are to ” improve the site “. The main problem isn’t sales, the site is broken or the effort isn’t there to fix the problems. Read through this thread once again to understand why the uproar ! Do you have tracks with this site ? If not, upload some tracks and experience the experience. Solving the communication problem, accurate stats with uploads, etc. will go a long ways to keep composers in the fold. A site that isn’t functioning properly can’t be relied upon for accuracy as that could possibly affect sales stats, track stats, etc. Mike needs to accept these problems and get things fixed !

        • I think guys complain a bit too much regarding communication. This site seems to be run by one guy or a small group of guys. From the communication from Mike here, he seems to be an honest guy. I haven’t seen anything where information was hidden or inaccurate.

People are complaining about stats, but stats don’t really do anything to help composers most of the time. They usually lead to more speculation and confusion.

I think we have to let the library do its job and give these things time to work out. The goal is to sell music and make money. All of these other concerns fade into the background. Please, no need to attack Mike. He seems honest, but overwhelmed.

          • Desire Inspires – thank you so much for you support. I really do appreciate it. Like you – I really do not know what the uproar is about. It really saddens me how people attack and spread bad vibes about what I am trying to do. I am a musician myself and have tracks on other sites so know how things go down. I like you am personally grateful for the opportunity to sell tracks on another site. Why people are so quick to jump ship is beyond me. I have had tracks on a few sites now for over 2 years and still haven’t had a sale, but I just leave them there. After all – if I get 1 sale then great. No harm in keeping them there.
Other concerns about stats and things not working are all being worked on. All of this comes straight out my pocket and I also work another job to fund all this. So you are totally right – I am overwhelmed.
All I can promise is that I will keep giving it my all and keep upgrading the site and working hard on marketing. This is my passion and my dream, and I am just grateful for the composers who are willing to stick by me.
I guess – due to the way the site has been designed, I/we appear large than we are and am flattered by the attention. I know it’s tough for composers, but it’s tough for us libraries as well!
I’m working on a re-design of the site in the new year and better functionality all round. Both for the composers and much more importantly – the users! I’ve got big things planned and will keep giving it my all.
I wish you and the other composers a very happy new year and hope we can all work together to achieve great things in 2015.

  6. Art, I was told my tracks would be down within 6 months of my request as it’s part of their terms & conditions we signed up to when uploading. Also took a while to get that response, but that was in August, so I’ll keep you posted after the notice period is up and see if they honour their promise.

    • Hey Taco,

We will still keep our promise if you still want to take your tracks down. no issues at all.
By the way. Did you get the money we sent you as a gesture of goodwill, despite the fact you didn’t make any sales??

      • Hi Mike,

No, I didn’t – assuming you used my PayPal email that’s registered in my account with you? Last time we corresponded, you mentioned I had made sales despite them not showing up in the sales area of my admin, are you referring to payment for those?

        Many thanks

    • Just replied to you Art. No issues there, and apologies – your mail went to spam. No problem removing your account. Sorry to see you go. Big things planned here and it costs nothing to keep your tracks with us, so if you change your mind do let us know. A lot of guys making some sales now through the site. It’s been a really tough road getting here but we will keep fighting. We still have huge ambitions to be one of the big boys.
And please guys dont think we are a HUGE site with tons of staff and money. We are 2 guys trying their best and investing tons of personal money to make this work.

        • Hey Art. Difficult to nail down stats on what sells best, but genre wise Corporate of course sells well. However quirky, pop and acoustic are also selling well.
Composer wise – This composer has had some recent success with sales

          https://www.beatorchard.com/stockmusic-profile-composer-327-FreshEarsAudio.htm

And here are 3 of the most recent sales on the site.

          https://www.beatorchard.com/stockmusic-track_details-track_id-7104-InspiringAcousticUkulele.htm

          https://www.beatorchard.com/stockmusic-track_details-track_id-7040-GoodMorningSunshine.htm

          https://www.beatorchard.com/stockmusic-track_details-track_id-7215-BrightFuture.htm

I guess positive and upbeat are things people look for. As well as calm and non-obtrusive sounds.

Hope this helps guys. But also, what really helps us so much is proper descriptions on tracks and not labelling them incorrectly. So just because Corporate sells well – labelling a track as corporate which clearly isn’t can be really damaging. Imagine you typed in ‘Ski holidays’ in Google and the results you got included a week in the bahamas. You wouldn’t trust that service anymore.

          • Mike, thank you for the reply. I like Beat Orchard. I hope it does well. I even started selling some tracks. Nice surprise. A few suggestions:

            – the message system doesn’t seem to work for me. I can’t open any of the messages.

            – why limit to only 1 edit per type? As an example, I usually make more than one 60 seconds edits for each track, but with your upload system I can only upload one (or, mis-label on purpose the edit and label the 60 seconds edit as a 30 seconds or 15 seconds … which is not good of course).

            – the waiting time for track approval is very, very long. By the time my track is on sale on Beat Orchard it has been on sale on other libraries for months already … not good for Beat Orchard, I guess. This is probably the most important thing you should try to improve. I understand the need to put out only quality stuff, and that requires time. But right now the process is really, really slow.

            – some of my tracks are labeled as “awaiting review” but they are actually live and for sale. Not a big deal, but quite confusing.

            – just to see things from a buyer perspective, I searched for a song of mine (the EXACT title) (actually, a song that I sold already at Beat Orchard) and your search engine found nothing. Odd. I searched a single word from the same title, again, some songs showed up but not mine. Same thing with other songs. Is there something wrong with the search engine? Just wondering.

            Thanks

            • Thanks GM. This kind of constructive feedback is really useful. Glad you are making sales. They will increase over time. Trust me on that one.
And I know the approval process is long. I’m working on that! Like I said, its just me here, and sadly don’t have a team of people reviewing other tracks. In time we will. Until then – hang in there and thanks!
I guess we should be flattered about the attention we get on this forum as it shows you guys think the service has real potential.

        • WOW ! Its the same exactly answer I got when I asked them to take my tracks down…Really just Copy & Paste…. and all of that after writing them 20 emails, messaged them on FB,Twitter and even called them and left them a voice message… Next month it would be 6 month over and im taking my track from there ASAP !
