MLR Jukebox

MLR Radio has been renamed to MLR Jukebox (I was over thinking this!). If you would like to be included please send me one or two MP3 tracks, 128k via yousendit.com (or something similar), to “music [at] musiclibraryreport.com”. Please name the file “yourname_title.mp3”. You may use your username if you don’t want to use your real name. Please keep the length to around two minutes or less.

You must be a registered user on MusicLibraryReport.com to be included in the player.

Emmett Cooke’s Tagging Software

Something we all need is an easy way to tag our music. To the uninitiated tagging and describing your music effectively is critical. This will ensure that your music will be returned in the search of a database when a client is looking for a particular style and feel. Emmett is working on a solution and here is his comment from another thread.

“I’ve decided to look into developing software which might be able to do this and a couple of other handy bits and pieces for composers…we’ll see how it goes!”

Emmett is looking for feedback so here’s the place for it.

Critiques

I’m working on a way to set up cue – track critiques. I’m thinking that a user (who would like a critique of their music) would log in, upload a track, enter their title, tags and description and get some feedback from folks here. Could be helpful. Any thoughts or ideas?

BTW I have not forgotten about the radio station idea:-)

BMI – Tunesat Reconciliation

That time again as the quarterly BMI payment was on June 24th. Always a fascinating exercise reconciling my BMI statement with my Tunesat detections. I’m much more incentivized now as I recently collected a decent size license fee for an unauthorized use of one of our cues. I would have never known about it if it hadn’t been for Tunesat. No, I don’t work for them but they do give me a bit of a break for my running their banner ad. I was a client before the break and would be if there wasn’t one.

OK back to the spreadsheet!

Earn Free Access To MLR

While it is true that there is a charge to access the music library listings there are many areas that remain free and include a wealth of knowledge. There are also ways you can gain free access to the music library listings by helping to build MusicLibraryReport.com into a better site and a more vibrant community.

Articles will have to meet SEO (Search Engine Optimization) requirements (all green bullet points) here:

1.) Earn one month free access. Review a music library. You must have been with the library for at least 1 year. It should be an in-depth review, at least 900 words, and delivered in a Word docx file. It should include:

1.) How long you have been with them.
2.) The number of tracks with them.
3.) Amount of income generated (nothing specific, 2 figure, 3 figure, 4 figure, etc. per month.)
4.) Communication response times.
5.) What genre sells the best for you.
6.) Filling in any of the missing details in the MLR listing of that library.
7.) You can remain anonymous but I will need your name and user name for the site you are reviewing.

Please contact me first with the libraries you are considering as many have already been reviewed.

2.) Earn three months free access. Write a compelling article on a subject you think would be of interest to the music library composer community. It should be in-depth, at least 900 words, and delivered in a Word docx file. Contact me first on your subject.

3.) Earn one month free access. Review a piece of music hardware or software. It should be an in-depth review, at least 900 words, and delivered in a Word docx file.

Examples are here https://musiclibraryreport.com/category/software-reviews/ and here https://musiclibraryreport.com/category/hardware-reviews/.

Please contact me first as to what products you are planning to review. Please do not plagiarize, reviews will be checked here http://www.copyscape.com/.

4.) Composer Interviews. Please see details here.

Thank you.
