I am looking for a programm that i can type in scripts.
All my songs have the right tags for title but as “artist” tag there is always the genre ( e.g. [Rock] ) in brackets in front of the artist´s name.
If i had a programm that has like a command line, i would be able to write a task like “when you see a bracket in the artist tag, delete everything between [ and ]”.
I once found a programm that allowed me to enter “script” commands in a specific language, but i forgot which one it was. I hope i am right in this forum – if not please tell me where to go

I use Tag&Rename a lot and it might suit your needs.

    Another good one is Foobar2000.
It has advanced scripting and tagging possibilities once you get familiar with it and a great community. It is also very good for organising tracks and converting between various audio formats.

    I’m now using MP3Tag. Really powerful. https://www.mp3tag.de/en/

I use mp3tag too. Nice. It might let you do some custom scripting, I’ve never gone that deep. I wish I could build more tags into my DAW software, Cakewalk. But it only lets you do a couple very basic ones

The one feature I use the most is tagging multiple files using a text file. I build all of the metadata, from my database, into an Excel spreadsheet. That gets dumped into a text file which I use in MP3Tag. I can do hundreds of files at a time that way, very convenient. I use Cakewalk also but have never explored that capability.
