BEATSLINGERParticipant
are there any sites similar to this place that deal more with song placement than stock production. I really appreciate both of your comments. Thanks
Actually, You’re in a good spot to find out info. I have been doing a lot of Movie, and Brand Placement. I did the majority of my research here. Like for instance, finding out that Riptide does a lot more Song Placement & Branding; but just happens to also do some Production Music business. Makes it easier on figuring out how to approach specific Entertainment Companies, Libraries, and Song Pluggers/Placement Services.
BEATSLINGERParticipantGreetings.
Yeah Brother, this is not Production/Library Music.
I would think about talking with some Music Supervisors, and getting it into a Indie Film/Film Noir
BEATSLINGERParticipantHi there Cozy. I like it, but a couple of things.. Have you thought about Multi-Tracking The Leads to give it a little more Girth?
Also, The filler/Side Guitars in the second verse sound MUCH better than the first verse.Style: Americana, a bit Southern-Rock, 80’s-90’s Pop-Rock (Almost a bit Bruce Springsteen)
BEATSLINGERParticipantHmmm, it sounds to me like they are about to go the way of LinkedIn. You have a standard service that is free (That possibly soon to change) Then, you will have something to the effect of a “Much Enhanced, and/or Professional Account(s)”. Sounds like some “Pennies will be trickled down thru a subscription service”..
I don’t think monies will/would be generated through these social media sites the way they currently are setup..
ALSO. I am hoping that Legislature will be put in place to prevent Companies/Branding, Professional Media, and ANY Media with Monetary Revenue Streams from being able to use devalued/bargain rate music!! This should ONLY be made available to the general public, and people that are using Production Music for non-professional applications!!
BEATSLINGERParticipantHave you been in touch with them? Send them a nice concise email, and just simply say. “Just seeing how everything is progressing with the tracks; and checking with you to see if you need anything else from me”..
BEATSLINGERParticipantHonestly, I wouldn’t worry too much. December & the first part of January are pretty slow going for a lot of Libraries. Perhaps they are waiting till early spring.. Also, depends on what types of cues you delivered. `Seems to be an “Over-Abundance of Trap/EDM/Hip Hop, and not enough Sports & Arena Rock”..
BEATSLINGERParticipantFor me, they are not done until they are done. The bigger question for me is “Who is the track going to?”
My Top-Tier Libraries, I can be in production on a track for weeks. I do though still have a couple cable network libraries I work with, and those can be finished in a matter of 3-to-5 hours.BEATSLINGERParticipant“Tanglewood Rhyme, sent a Chill Thru Me!!”
BEATSLINGERParticipantYou’re Ridiculously Talented!!
What they are asking is for you to do a couple/few pieces that would be available to them; with your opinion on how best to use your music. They are just trying to see what your vision is, and how you feel your “talent/creations” would be best served.
Your theme is “Optimistic, Hopeful/Hopeless Romantic, Dreamy, and Slightly Melancholy”.
Have you thought about doing simple String Beds, Pads, and Ambient sounds as an under-bed, with your guitars as the major focal-point?
If I owned a Library, You would be signed!!
BEATSLINGERParticipantHave to disagree with this. Even though a cue sheet wasn’t filed and it was used in a broadcast you could still be eligible for back-end royalties.
I mentioned first it all depends on the terms and conditions of the site you uploaded to.
BEATSLINGERParticipantWhat if this track ends upon a movie that goes on TV? I can say byebye to back-end royalties!
Depends on the terms and conditions of the site/company you uploaded the song to. This is where that big difference between Royalty Free, Non-Exclusive, and Exclusive comes in..
If this is a “Royalty Free site/company where there is a simple “1time fee for usage into perpetuity”. There would be no need for the user to file a cue sheet, or pay any additional monies”‘
If the composition/song is on other sites where it is “Non-Exclusive” you would be able to seek back-end monies, and there should be a cue sheet.
Back-end, and the possibility of sync/licensing fees would be the main goal of the Exclusive..
BEATSLINGERParticipantAlso, an important tip to know the licensing legalities of sample libraries used for library music that might end up being isolated in stems
If any “sample” becomes the dominant factor in your production, or composition/song. You didn’t do your work!
BEATSLINGERParticipantHi Pat, I’ve always interpreted that as the library looking for an existing track. Broadcast ready, as they sat.
Yes, it sounds like they want to spend up to 5k for an existing Song/Track that they feel is a match for their needs.
BEATSLINGERParticipantDoing a bit of research Cozy, I’ll circle back around with a PM..
BEATSLINGERParticipantSelf Indulgent, not at all. Needing to get to the meat of things earlier? Yes. Once the music kicks in it goes well.
Believe it or not, I would try it with some Trap Drums..
