I would suggest you get in touch with NCB, which is the official Scandinavian organization equivalent to Harry Fox agency in the US, that works with licensing and master rights. https://www.ncb.dk/01/1-2-2.html
This market is quite regulated with tarifs in Scandinavia, so NCB might have some blueprint figures for you (I know they have in native languages).
Mc_GTRParticipantNo definite faves here, but I do use criteria when choosing libraries to submit to. Mine is mostly that I won’t do royalty free and I won’t do libraries who offers blanket deals. I also check out their catalogue to see how picky they are with music (picky is a win-win for the composer and the library, imo).
I also treat everything as if it was exclusive, so my music don’t end up all over the place, but bear in mind that I don’t do this for a living, so I can afford the stone hard integrity. Basically, I can wait forever.
I also do artist pitches and aspire to do a little scoring work. So, my favourites are anyone who meets my criteria, and are easy to work with (don’t feedback a lot of BS).
So, at this point for me the library “business” is more about how far I am prepared to go in terms of wheeling and dealing, and not so much about which libraries that sells the most ect.
For me, one great deal is better than 10 decent ones.
It’s nothing I can recommend, everyone chooses their own strategy, but would just like to post a voice that’s a little bit different than most I’ve read.
I don’t find it difficult to find libraries that holds up. There are some very good ones out there.
Mc_GTRParticipantGreat report from the panel. I’m a little surprised that two libraries are sitting on half the production music market. Then there might be (tops) a handful libraries sitting on 5% and the rest competing with peanuts. Makes you think when there are 500+ libraries in the MRL database. I always get surprised how small the music business really is, considering the big numbers ($) that gets tossed around.
Mc_GTRParticipantI use my own pics taken from my own mobilephone, and manipulate them online at pixelR.com. Cost = 0.
Mc_GTRParticipantYou’re right, GM, my bad about the sizes.
Mc_GTRParticipantNew member here. Fun to read this thread. Nice community for sure!
Happy new 2015 everyone!
Mc_GTRParticipantThere are several sizes for uke’s, so you might want to check out that, depending on the sound you want. I like the Tenor size, which is the middle one in between the soprano (smaller) and concert (bigger).
I got a Yamaha Guitalele, which is nice for a guitar picker like me. I like to have six strings to see, even though I mostly only play the top 4 for the right uke sound.
I’m with the guys on recording. Mic it up and record close to it, if noise is an issue.
