January 12, 2021 at 6:39 pm in reply to: How important is a personal relationship with your library? #37175RM90Participant
The libraries that communicate with me regularly are the ones I work with the most. It is an important factor in my opinion.
RM90ParticipantHey guys, I was hoping someone could weigh in as to whether I should switch to BMI or not. I’ve been doing this for about 3 years now. My placements are probably 2/3 international, 1/3 US. From what I read, some say ASCAP is better for international royalties. I have about 1,100 registered tracks on ASCAP (some re-titles and alt versions). I have until the end of March to decide whether I want to switch. Any help is appreciated!

RM90ParticipantThey are doing maintenance until Tuesday
September 25, 2020 at 10:39 am in reply to: Anyone succesful joining libraries during Covid-19 crisis? Presentation tips #35849RM90ParticipantI have joined a few new exclusive libraries since Covid. One somewhere around April, one June, one September. For those I sent full album submissions via Soundcloud links. I have a website too in my email signature which some look at. A lot of libraries have large backlogs of libraries at the moment too, which means they may not be taking new stuff for a while.
RM90ParticipantCouldn’t agree more!
RM90ParticipantJust create multiple free tunesat accounts. The price is too expensive for me, as I am only 2 1/2 years in.
RM90ParticipantI actually received the money today. I usually get it on Friday and the statement appears on Monday. Surprisingly good payment too!
RM90ParticipantCan’t find it either. Since the Pandemic they have only listed each month, not specific dates. It seems to usually be Mondays though.
July 26, 2020 at 5:31 pm in reply to: Commercial in German TV: they asked for track and composer name? #35468RM90ParticipantThey want your name as it is registered with your PRO so you can receive royalties.
RM90ParticipantHi Mark, welcome to the site! I’m sure everyone does it a little differently when they do an album, but I usually put my favorites as the first 3. After that i spread them out so that it varies as much as possible from song to song. Also I’d put the “worst” one maybe 8th on the album so that if they skip to the last one it is still good. A lot of libraries re-order them anyway though, so it doesn’t matter too much. Hope this helps!
June 4, 2020 at 5:37 am in reply to: Advice needed for making the transition from RF to bigger libraries #35093RM90ParticipantThe bigger libraries are generally exclusive, so you would need to write new tracks for them. A lot of composers write full albums (10-12 tracks) of the same style and pitch it to exclusive libraries. It’s good that you are registered with PRS, Being from the US I’m not too familiar with MCPS but it sounds like it would benefit you to join. Hope this helps!
RM90ParticipantJust got my international ASCAP payment today, and it was only about half of what I expected. I have one international ad that pays a similar amount every quarter. The Covid impact on royalties has begun! I’m really considering switching to BMI if they expect me to be fine earning half of what I deserve.
April 6, 2020 at 1:33 pm in reply to: Best NE libraries for tracks that are already on Audiosparx in perpetuity #34575RM90ParticipantYeah unfortunately that is what seems to be happening. And thanks, glad you like that track!
April 5, 2020 at 2:47 am in reply to: Best NE libraries for tracks that are already on Audiosparx in perpetuity #34561RM90ParticipantDespite the bad things you may have read, those 3 libraries you listed are the only ones that really get me somewhat regular sales these days. Most other libraries are either moving towards exclusive or subscription models.
