Stein_ThorParticipant
Thanks guys. My beef is that I have to wait one year for things to show up in my PRO here in Iceland, and then thats for the year before, so almost two year old info.
Since I throw songs all around and write fast sometimes I need to know if a library is good or not, fast, especially if I take a few months and concentrate on this.
This is more important now than ever since I´m being asked for exclusives all the time, which is bad, cause it locks my songs in a certain library.
I don´t think my PRO is doing badly, it´s just the usage shows up so late.
I thought ASCAP was the go to PRO for the US.
Stein_ThorParticipantThank you Art, this has helped me a lot.
Stein_ThorParticipantThank you Art,
so you just cut up the original song then, I´m more into midi work, orchestral stuff, so not so used to working on the audio files themselves. But was going to try to do it now. Is there somewhere I could look for tips on how it is best to do this. I have looked on site and found some info, but maybe there is something on youtube?
Stein_ThorParticipantJust found this thread, hope you have made it in the soundtrack world, love your music, really well done.
Stein_ThorParticipantVery good points Desire, unfortunately most people don´t have access to real orchestras :), for me it´s more that I really feel good when I make this type of music and it comes quite naturally to me. Most of these orchestral pieces I did in just a few hours each, so the time spent is not that great, but of course it´s better to concentrate on something that works in the real world. I somehow feel like I´m painting a picture when I make these, and often I do like the result, so something is gained I guess.
When fighting to get into selling the music though you need to fight the big boys, and then a solitary musician has a hard time against the studios, but some have made it and do wonderful stuff in my opinion.
Thank you all for these points, I really do appreciate it 🙂
Stein_ThorParticipantIf Garðabær was the only thing you saw then, yes, you should come back :),,, not exactly a scenic place, I live in the next town to it.
Stein_ThorParticipantThank you all for your comments, this helps me a lot. I find it better to hear it like it is rather than waste my time, libraries time, and maybe even my money if I go that rout on something that is not up to standard 🙂 Better to use the time and try to get better.
I use a few piano samples, Imperfect Fazioli is my most used, I also use 8dio Steinway on something and then one of the songs is a recording of a real piano.
Stein_ThorParticipantHi,,, thank you for this, I´m using a few libraries that are supposed to be quite good, Berlin strings, 8dio, Cinematic Strings, Spitfire audio. Been trying to get better in the cinematic aspect but obviously I need to work it better, maybe then particularly on mix/mastering level.
Thank you for you advice :), and yes, please let me know of a good place, although I´m sure this is a bit like looking for gold, you really should not tell if you find a vein 😛
Stein_ThorParticipantAgain I thank you, I will go carefully over all this in the morning. (Bedtime here in Iceland 🙂 )
BTW how does one approach upper tier libraries?
Stein_ThorParticipantThank you,,, this is probably the most helpful info I have had for a long time,, 🙂 I’m very grateful
