DannycParticipant
anyone know when part 3 is out?
DannycParticipantJesus that’s horrendous. somethings got to me done or else we will be left with just a handful of artist connected to major record labels dominating the market and the charts. oh wait its already happened.
DannycParticipantwell for me i see it more of another avenue to get your music out there. not sure how effective it is though. not expecting to get rich from spotify streams.
DannycParticipantinteresting thanks for that. i’ll send an email to two steps from hell in that case ha ha 😉
DannycParticipantcool daveydad, do you do much promotion yourself of these albums or just leave it to the digital online stores?
DannycParticipantthanks gigdude. how does getting people to listen work in these online stores such as spotify and itunes? does itunes make sure that the albums reach the right listeners or do you or the label your signed with have to do this promtion yourself?
i’m not really concerned with the financials at this stage but was more thinking this is a good way to get better reach of my music to more people.
DannycParticipanteverything is digital these days i doubt anyone sends physical media anymore.
actually this brings up another point. for any of you guys working with exclusive libraries, how often do you actually chat to your publishers on the phone etc? i kinda realized that some of the libraries i’m working with i’ve only ever spoken to the A&R guys once and for others actually never.
do you think its important and helps form better relationships with the libraries by chatting now and again rather than doing everything by email?
DannycParticipantthanks Mark.
One last tip that I only learned recently – EQ some of the low mids (140 Hz-ish) out of your reverb. Those frequencies tend to build up and get magnified by reverb.
yeah i think Dave Pensado done a recent tutorial about this on one of his channels.
wow 150 tracks in a one session, most i’ve ever done to date was probably about 70 tracks. you must have some amount of different elements going on in your tracks or is a lot of this layering? for example 3 spiccato patches from different libraries layered? 5 or 6 percussion tracks for the big hits etc?
DannycParticipantHi Mark some nice tips here. what do you mean by pre-fader reverb? do you mean pre-delay in a reverb module? do you tend to use one instance of reverb and send all your instruments to that same room setting using sends but just by different amounts or do you use multiple reverb’s, one for percussion, a different one for strings etc etc? do you ever insert a reverb directly on an instrument?
do you ever install a final reverb on the master output bus?
DannycParticipantgood work Patrick. you’re clearly a talented composer.
DannycParticipantsounds really good man. Mark Petrie comes here and as you are probably aware he’s a professional trailer composer be very curious to hear what he thinks.
but as an aspiring trailer composer myself, i think you are on the right path. i would like to hear something of your own work rather than a re-worked track.
DannycParticipantthanks guys. god if i had of known this i would of uploaded my tracks earlier. now there is a good chance i have missed detection’s of placements as i mostly write in a style that is not going to get lots of repeat plays on reality tv shows and is more likely only getting played on certain occasions. ah well we’ll see what happens going forward on my tracks.
the historical data option is useful to know though.
DannycParticipantbut when you say it detects in real time do you mean its only scanning from the time you upload the track? so if the placement occurred last month it wont pick that up? its only picking stuff up going forward from the time of upload and not historical placements that might of happened last month or the month before etc?
DannycParticipantjust looking for some clarity on the free version of tunesat. once you have uploaded your tracks it takes 24hours for the tracks to become active on the system and for the detection’s to begin? in the track section should you be able to see the wave forms of the audio files you uploaded? i’m not finding the user interface very clear. in my track section i just see the track/file names, no wave form and no indication to tell me if the track is still processing/pending after being uploaded or if its now active on the system.
in the detection’s section does this just continue to run in the background automatically or do you have to go into the update search area and select the criteria you want to detect on? when the detection starts what time range is it searching? does it have a default setting built in like a week or do you have to specify the date/range yourself?
DannycParticipantthanks guys seems like it also might be useful for those of us already writing for libraries.
