I have a very limited number of tracks in libraries that set their own prices. Only keep tracks there with a good sales record.I am no longer in AS and not in PB (whatever that is). Hard to say what competing well means as you have no idea what others are selling. I can only compare with myself and reducing prices for over three months had no positive impact in sales. I have many tracks in many genres… hope that helps
MusicmattersParticipantI am charging 70 for all edits except stingers and loops. We only have ourselves to blame for this. I don’t see a downward spiral but i strongly believe we need to make an upwards spiral, all of us…
MusicmattersParticipantCurrently I have all my tracks at a minimum of 70 across all sites (Except stingers). I tried going down to 50 for a few months but i did not see sales going up at all. I feel most consumers would not mind part with an extra 20 to 30 for what they like. Just my observation.
MusicmattersParticipantHi Mark,
Thanks for this wonderful piece of software, I have been wanting to do something like this for a very long time. I have been trying to install MLS 0.4 v6 and I am facing the following message:
1. Installer requires write permissions (700 or 755, 777 in some cases) to be able to complete installation.
2. Web Application Root, where you extracted the files should be writable.which folders or files need permissions ? What should I do ?
Thanks Mark.

congrats and thanks, this product will fare well. Just one quick question. How do you import data into your software, can you import an excel doc, or can you import mp3’s and their metadata directly. Thanks and best of luck,
MM
MusicmattersParticipantHey Happy Ears, Tempo changes are my preferred method and adding instruments/tracks as far as your DAW can comfortably handle.I can’t imagine creating individual projects for each cue. Happy Weekend !!
MusicmattersParticipantHi Amir,
welcome to the library scene. You may be a rookie but you have some good compositional skills and ideas. Although this is not my main genre., my observations are track 1 was the nicest simply because it was understated, it is a soft and slow track. In tracks 2 and 3 I felt the sound needed work, it is lacking in the low frequencies, need to feel the power of the daikos etc. The tracks need more melodic development and variations to keep the interest. You may want to think about having several climaxes instead of just 1. So work more on your mix, check the sound on different monitors and work on thematic development and keeping the interest. As far as timed edits, this gets better with practice. Pick the most important part of the track and work around that, I would start with 60 and 30 sec, as it would be very difficult to do a 15 on these tracks. I hope that helps, best of luck.

March 24, 2015 at 7:06 am in reply to: HOW does one contact or submit to the biggest exclusive entities? #21070MusicmattersParticipantThere will be a bunch of exclusives at the NAB in vegas next month. I will be attending and would love to hook up with any MLR members doing the same. Cheers
MusicmattersParticipantMany exclusive libraries require a complete album in a specific style so be prepared for that. I would not do any exclusive deals without any upfront money. Also it is worth your while to do some research on where your music fits best.

February 18, 2015 at 7:48 am in reply to: To Website or not to Website….that is the question. #20181MusicmattersParticipantI have had a website since a few years. I have a music player on it and it seems to have been of the same utility as SC, except it makes you look a little more professional and invested. If someone searches for you, it makes you a little easier to find. For those of you concerned about SC piracy, i usually post private for private auditions. Has anybody had any music stolen through that way ?

Maybe more publishers should be exploring these markets as it seems many are geared mostly towards broadcast.
