May 29, 2018 at 10:54 am in reply to: Learning curve for learning to compose minimal orchestral cues…. #30199woodsdenisParticipant
Good take on this Chuck. As others have said the video just has a few orchestral elements, Symphobia is on sale now maybe worth checking, basically pre baked sections which sound great.
Having seen and witnessed orchestrators on film scores do their thing, its a life long learning curve really. What I guess you are aiming for is to add orchestral textures to tracks to give a hybrid type sound.
woodsdenisParticipantComment left, hypothetically speaking of course, their system for composer payment could easily be gamed. According to them you need to always download a new version of the track if you use it for a different project. This enables them to work out the composer splits. What is to stop you from creating an account and just download your own track 100 times. For very little money you can do this easily. Even on AJ this was/is (tx Music1234) an issue but with a far greater monetary investment.
On the flip side how do make sure that the extra download happens? More often than not I would say the video content guys just use the same track over and over without doing this.
They are also NOT involved in Content ID so their claim about hassle free for YT is bogus, also with not being in Content ID they have no idea how your widespread tracks usage is.
woodsdenisParticipantYou do not have permission to view this content.
woodsdenisParticipantGreat info Art, tx
woodsdenisParticipantThat’s a comforting thought, but some of the music from other places, like Indonesia, and especially Eastern Europe, is very very good and highly competitive in terms of both composition and sonic quality.
Very very true, in Eastern Europe $500 a month is a living wage, LA or NYC probably not !!!! These composers get a very good musical education (a welcome hangover from the Soviet era) and wether you or I like it can produce very acceptable music for their market. They are not going away any time soon.
Also as a side note when AJ started, composers were horrified at the low price of tracks, those who got in at the start are making thousands a month from it. I am not advocating or defending AJ trust me but that is the reality of the world now.
woodsdenisParticipantLike Art and MichaelL have said many times here, its always about not putting all your eggs in one basket and more importantly looking at the global picture in this internet age. What models will be here in 10 years ? IDK but looking back at what worked and mulling over it won’t change it.
Lets accept the fact that the subscription model will have music to fill it for the very reasons MichaelL has said, now by all means withdraw your tracks, that is not going to kill it or affect it in any way unfortunately.
I remember Art saying this eons ago regarding all new business models “never say never”. TBH I will go and investigate what the different subs are about I currently don’t have any tracks in them currently.

November 23, 2017 at 1:49 pm in reply to: Gibson announced it is ceasing Cakewalk development. #28914woodsdenisParticipantNo problem with Melodyne, usual integration, record into it and record out. Doesn’t do the ARA integration like Studio One.

November 22, 2017 at 5:20 pm in reply to: Gibson announced it is ceasing Cakewalk development. #28905woodsdenisParticipantCubase, because it does virtually everything well. Which is ironically maybe why you don’t need it. There is so much under the hood it can appear clunky and a like a dinosaur. However for media work I can’t think of a better solution.

OK a Devs site but the Dan Worrall videos on Mid/Side, compression techniques can be used on any plugin. In fact any Dan Worall video is worth watching, a great source and explanation of sometimes complex techniques.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJgBqh3tYway5A5VgV4dZRw
