Hmmm, I used a drumloop which happened to be very popular amongst TV composers. Added layers on top, my own bassline and melodies. However, TuneSat detected more than 20 times, other ppl’s works on TV. These days, when I use a sample drumloop, I’l modify it by chopping & pitching it differently first.

For me, 1st one started coming in beginning of 2012 at $28. Then, gradually increasing & the last one just came in at $879. Kinda sucks that overseas writers have to wait 12-18 months for the backends to come in after broadcast but at least my US placements royalties have just started rolling in. Fingers crossed this growth continues.

I burn my sessions on dvds & lock them up in a PO Box I rented.

I’m pretty confident that AudioSparx knows what’s best for their clients. Instead of blaming them or their system, why not ask yourselves how you can improve your own game/strategy?

PPC worked for me before with a 350% ROI and becos of that, I’m willing to continue paying for it. Even without PPC now, I’m still getting constant traffic and plays. I can’t figure out why I’ve had no sales for the whole of this quarter but I believe that things will start to get better. Even if does not, I’m already preparing for plan b and c.

This game changes all the time, we just gotta learn to adapt IMHO.

Even though PPC was taken away, my plays have now started to increase once again, in fact very regularly. No sales for 3 months so far but my hope is that with MusicCult, there’ll be several broadcast placements. I guess with unpredictable changes like these, I need to start looking at the game differently. My backend payments have been increasing rapidly with other libraries and hopefully with these gratis deals on MC, it could boost em even more. So, maybe there’ll be way less upfront but more backends to come for 2013. Well, we’ll see.

I’m just about to go on a family X’Mas vacation, so probably won’t have internet access for the next few days but, before I go, just wanna say I totally agree with House. I am deeply grateful to Barbie and Lee for bringing back PPC.

It has allowed me to do very well every single month at AudioSparx for the last 2 years up until it was removed. I am very relieved that it’s coming back. It works for me, maybe not for everyone but I can tell the day & night difference for my case.

Thank You AudioSparx for giving Us this extra option (& no one is being forced to use it if they don’t like it).

Have a Blessed and Merry X’Mas Everyone!

I’ve been doin’ this for abt 4 years now. I think going for best quality is a good move & I find that with time, the more you do the faster you get. Hence, quantity increases too IMHO. Keep on doin’ it, it only gets better… All the best!

Thanks for sharing your experience & the advice Steve.

I’ve only been in this industry for 3-4 years so sometimes I still find it hard to judge if a deal is good or not. However, within 1 year, JP has made me way way way more $ than any other Lib I’ve been with so far plus some backend royalties coming in next month. They’ve gotten me abt 30 x more placements than the other 4 Libs I’m with.

From what you’ve mentioned abt the “3 yrs & 25 tracks”, I can’t help but wonder, what amt of $ made (for that amt of time & tracks signed) would you then consider it worth signing your catalog exclusively to a Lib?

Any time Angopop. These are just MHO & some folks here with more experience than myself may be able to give better insight. Also, one strategy that might work for one composer may not work as well for another. Sometimes we come up with our own through trial & error.

Yes, there seems to be a 3 year reversion clause unless the track/tracks were placed & generated some $

With 25 pieces, I would recommend sticking with just one pseudonym & one library first before branching out as you would probably need more numbers before seeing any action in placements or sales unless you happen to be extremely lucky whereby with just a couple of tracks you get a massive placement, can happen but very rare imho.
