KrisemmParticipant
Its a good plugin. Not suspicious at all. I bought this on plugin boutique a while back, and its perfect for instant references. Its as simple as clicking between A and B once you’ve loaded up to 8 reference tracks into it.
Admittedly, I don’t use it as much as I should because I always forget I have it, but its a very good and completely legitimate plugin.KrisemmParticipantI have 1500 plugins on my system so Im something of a collector. All either free or legitimately owned.
With that much experience of VSTs, I gotta second that promotion of Klanghelm. I own all the klanghelm plugins and in particular, I use multiple instances of MJUC on every track. Its a no-brainer, seriously.
They look great, sound fantastic on anything really, and Tony the dev is a great guy, and quick to respond to customer support. For anyone with Reaktor, check out the boscomac ensembles. They’re all free, and just great. His Floodverb is the best reverb I’ve ever used
I also gotta say, these plugins have been tested against some products from other big named VSTs, and the bigger names were put to shame.
Another beauty is U-He’s Podolski. Its a great synth for pads with a nice arpeggiator.
Im a big fan of U-He and have Bazille, ACE, and Hive, but the podolski still has its usesKrisemmParticipantI gave up with proteus a while back. I cant remember exactly what the problem was, but I was forced to uninstall it. I remember thinking ” EMU, the same people who gave us the Emulator, made this car crash”. I was so disappointed.
I also use FL studio ( version 12.4 at the time of writing ), but I got tons of other stuff now, so I wouldnt go back and try proteus again.KrisemmParticipantI came up in the electronica scene, and we’re probably to blame for the loudness war being what it has been. When I was releasing artist albums, I wanted them loud, but I also didnt just wanna brickwall everything and have sausage waveforms.
I must admit I’m confused by all the many types of meters around now. I understand peak meters and RMS meters, but this new LUFS standard, although in theory a Godsend for ending this unsustainable loudness war, it’s confusing to know how to get a totally accurate picture of your tracks loudness.
I keep my interface at the same volume so I know comparatively, whats loud and what isn’t.I limit anything that bleeds in my DAWs mixer, export, then run it through ozone with a little limiting and maybe a bit of maximizer, and careful of peaks, without destroying dynamics.
I have some great little meters like klanghelms VUMT deluxe, and a free meter called Youlean loudness meter, but I’m still not overly sure just how loud my music is.
And then there are K meters and VU meters. From what I’ve read, itunes, spotify , youtube and broadcasters will all be turning tracks down to comply with new rules to stop adverts being louder than programmes etc…so if they’re gonna turn them down, why make them loud to start with. I try to aim for somewhere in the middle now, but my methods aren’t very accurate and I just use my ears. Audio fidelity should be all important. Ego made us want to be louder than everyone else, but surely a pristine, fully intact idea is more important.
KrisemmParticipantI know Michael, but Im thinking some time sigs lend themselves better to falling on an odd beat. I mean, 15, being an odd number, will never naturally allign with multiples of 4 x 4, cos the nearest is 12 or 16 beats, so some compromise is needed. with a different time sig like 3/4, it would take 5 repitions for it to naturally allign ( 3 x 5 ).
Im just gonna start writing waltzes=P
Problem solved =)
KrisemmParticipantYeah I just set a marker called “deadline” at the 15 or 30 second point cos I know whatever goes past that, is surplus to requirements, and between the 10 to 15 second point, or 25 to 30 second point, I can do whatever, as long as it doesnt sound weird, in an abrupt kinda way.
KrisemmParticipantI use FL studio. Its mostly geared towards 4/4, although I’ve managed to coax 3/4, and maybe 6/8 out of it.
I have bitwig as well, and im sure its more adept at irregular time sigs, but I hate the thoughts of learning it when Im so used to using FL, which is fantastic. The only way I feel creatively limited with FL is the time sigs which are a little rigid.
Been meaning to look into reaper for a long time as I’ve heard so many good things about it. Wondering what DAW you guys all use, and if you have absolute creative freedome re: time sigs ??KrisemmParticipantOne thing im curious about.
Because I’m working on recycling a lot of older material, hardly any of those tracks are exactly 60 or 120bpm, so its proving difficult in some cases, to get the end of a 15 or 30 second segment to allign without it being halfway through a 4 beat or an 8 beat pattern.
I knew I had some good stuff that could be converted, but some others, because they’re too fast or too slow to allign to real-time needs, can only arrive at that point with an unnatural fadeout.
Its trial and error, but its also cauding me to be a bit more creative, which is always a good thing.KrisemmParticipantMy apologies also Alan, as it was early morning for me too. well, For me it was morning……for anyone else it was 2pm, but I stay up to 4 or 5 am making music when its quiet so Im justified.
Like I said, I’ve been on a lot of forums. I even ran my own phpbb forum once, but I find this forum very difficult to navigate because it seems all over the place. No offence to Art. Im sure its a difficult job to collate and arrange so much information, but there are just too many menus, and I’ve tried using that search bar up there twice, and both times it gave me no results. I typed pond5 in there, hit enter…..nothing.
I went into libraries, and I think I checked 2 or 3 boxes, that were common things……no results. So, if I asked here, thats why.
As for the negative responses, I’ve had those, but I know not to take it personally at all. They know nothing about me, and only know what they “need”, and I can always try again, so its only a speedbump in my mind for about 2 minutes. No matter what, just keep making the music. Thats how I see it.
KrisemmParticipanthttp://www.hearthis.at is the future
Its HALF the price that soundcloud charges for a pro membership.
The profiles are customizeable
It also has a bigger waveform display, with commentsIt is the ONLY platform of its kind that allows you, if you want, to stream at full lossless 24bit wav quality. When you compare that to soundclouds archaic 128kb/s mp3, the choice is clear.
It also has “groups”, which soundcloud took the hatchet to months ago, making it impossible to send music to likeminded people
Soundcloud are treading water right now. They just sacked 140 staff. That is not a business that’s doing well. This time next year soundcloud will be history.
KrisemmParticipantsoundcloud is finished.
KrisemmParticipantThanks Michael. Noted. I’ll do that =)
KrisemmParticipantFine Alan, I just won’t contribute to the forum at all then, since its all been said, and I won’t bother renewing my subscription since it can obviously all be found on google.
Only been here a week and tired of peoples cheek already. Manners are free.
KrisemmParticipantIve been on many many forums Art, but this one is a bit bewildering to be honest. I cant find anything. sorry, but thats my first impression.
KrisemmParticipantcheers Art, feel free to delete this then as Ive replied to that other post and sub’d to it. Thanks
