Hi Fredrik,welcome aboard!
KubedParticipantThanks Daniel,Project Sam has really great stuff.Symphobia series sound amazing.
I’m familiar with Composer Cloud but i’m wondering if you can use it in a pc that isn’t connected to the internet.
The pc i’m using for music production isn’t connected to the internet and i would like to keep it this way.KubedParticipant@Chuck: Gypsy is on my “to buy” list.A bit on the fence about RA: seems that RA and Silk compliment each other very well but it’s said RA isn’t as detailed as Silk.Still,a great combination for exotic sounds.
Maybe Era II Medieval Legends from Best Service is also a good pair with Silk?
I’ve read mixed comments about Goliath (great Pianos, drums, brass and some other instruments but quite a few dated sounds as well).Hollywood Strings Gold for $99 is a good budget option but since i’m not in a rush,i would
probably save money and wait for a good Symphobia 2 deal.Since we’re on this, does anyone know which strings VST could be used well for both commercial and orchestral productions (if there is any)?
My productions are mostly in the commercial side but i’m doing some hybrid electronica stuff too and possibly will expand more into cinematic stuff in the future.KubedParticipantBtw,i got me QL SD2-The Next Generation and QL Silk.
Sweet deal!
KubedParticipantThe full arrangement is actually an alt version of the instrumental you’ve signed with the exclusive library.
So,i would guess you can’t sign the track with other companies but you should definitely check with the library.KubedParticipantI’ve tracks in a few NBC shows and they all pay royalties so,i’m assuming Sports NASCAR specials should have paid you your share.
Had the placements been made before October 2015,they should appear on your recent statement.
I’m guessing you found out about the placements through Tunesat?
I don’t have any experience in uncollected royalties but,if i’m not wrong, tracking down who made the placements is needed in order to get paid.Art or others with experience in such things could chime in and shed some light.
You should def look into getting paid,it could be a few bucks but it also could be a decent
amount of money!KubedParticipant@daveydad: i got a recent placement on CBS News Sunday Morning show and paid $36 for 8 secs!
I got 200% of royalties though (writer’s and publisher’s share) and it’s a bit puzzling because i don’t know who got me the placement (probably an RF sale?).KubedParticipantUnfortunately it’s the first one.
In particular,Audiosparx has a non-exclusive contract in perpetuity, which means you can shop your music to as many other Non Exclusive companies as you want BUT can’t delete these tracks from Audiosparx and submit them to an Exclusive library.
KubedParticipant@Jay: thanks for the info!
Yes,Spike Jonze is the creative director on Viceland, several interesting shows there.
KubedParticipantI have Tunesat detection for States Of Undress on Viceland.
In Tunesat though,it says H2 instead of Viceland.
The show started in early March, when Viceland launched more or less.
What does H2 have to do with Viceland?
Anyway,i hope they pay royalties, the episode is playing 3-4 times/per day since early March.KubedParticipant+1 to what MichaelL said.
I steer clear of Content ID when it comes to NE deals.
KubedParticipantGot the same email yesterday.
I just checked and had 4 placements of 1 sec for superstation.KubedParticipant@daveydad: yep,you need a gazillion of Hulu streams to get a few dollars!
I would like your insight about Pandora btw.Who can submit music there and is it affiliated with Youtube Content ID?
This could be a bit off-topic so,feel free to pm if you want.
@MichaelL: 20-year old track end up in Taiwan tv;nice!!!
The most exotic place my music has travelled so far is Hawaii.
Unless Norway is considered exotic!KubedParticipantCongrats Dave!
Great quarter for me as well, faith restored :)))Not many surprises regarding music libraries.
Apart from 1 NE that finally took off,the usual suspects (a couple exclusive ones) did the trick once again.
I’m grateful specially to 1 of them, they keep spreading the tracks to various shows and managed to get me 4-digit royalties for this Q.On the contrary,5 pages of Hulu and Amazon Vod streams made me $62!
Overall,an unexpectedly well Q.KubedParticipant@miles long: it’s good to register non-exclusive tracks with your PRO,in case of a direct license (or any other license that you keep 100% of publishing).
It’s NOT good to register exclusive tracks with your PRO.When i signed my first 2 exclusive contracts a few years ago,i asked these 2 music libraries if i should register the tracks with BMI and they both insisted i shouldn’t do it.They said 2 different registrations of the same exclusive track could lead to several issues in case of a placement.
With that said,i’m not with PRS,i’m with BMI and these were both US based companies.
I recently signed with an exclusive UK company and they said they’ll handle the registration work. -
