Michael NickolasParticipant
Hi Pat, I’ve always interpreted that as the library looking for an existing track. Broadcast ready, as they sat.
Michael NickolasParticipantGrew up in CT., before leaving for Berklee and MA. 100 years ago. 🙂
Michael NickolasParticipantFun question. 2004 for me. Children’s music so kind of timeless.

My top selling tracks have earned thousands each in NE, RF libraries. This negates the need to sell all rights for up-front money.

Not sure anyone here would recommend doing a complete buyout with an RF library.
Michael NickolasParticipantI don’t. The only time stretching I do will occasionally be on the final hit, if cutting and fading it to fit to :30 isn’t working.
Michael NickolasParticipantYou should see details if you download the PDF instead of using the “interactive” web based format.
Michael NickolasParticipantTrue, there has been a slow down. But it comes and goes I find, so likely a pickup soon. Maybe it’s based on production schedules somehow, but I have no idea…
Michael NickolasParticipantFWIW I’ve read that SESAC doesn’t use survey like ASCAP or sampling like BMI but relies on cue sheets.
Michael NickolasParticipantThanks Kubed, misery loves company. 🙂
Michael NickolasParticipantIf it makes you feel any better, I have 90 cue sheets for these types of placements. I sent ASCAP a document listing the Series Title, Series Code, Date, and Program Code from each cue sheet and got the same nonsense from them as you did.
“Research is ongoing for the additional spreadsheet you sent us and we will notify you of our findings asap”
“Our further research indicates your performances were not found in the Sample/Survey conducted.”
As for moving your catalog, I’m not sure you should based it on this situation only. I mean if they did pay me it would have probably been $100-$200. It’s not fair missing out on that but is it enough money to go through the trouble? And I’m sure BMI has unfair issues of its own.
Michael NickolasParticipantI’m Central Ma these days, just north of Worcester. I know Northampton, I’ve been into your airport a few times. There’s a strong artist community out that way, isn’t there? I believe your have a jazz festival coming up?
Michael NickolasParticipantAlso from Massachusetts and the going is getting cold with a ton of leaves to pick up. 🙂
Your website worked fine for me on firefox. The music player is fast and responsive.Michael NickolasParticipantlately I’ve been uploading a song and edits as soon as I’m happy with the mix..
I’ve been letting my new tracks build up. I feel this gives me a better perspective on what to do with them. I can listen to the group as a whole, then make individual decisions as to what is best for each and for business overall.
Michael NickolasParticipantAgree, nice track and I heard the snare fill thing also. And I think the horn stab sound could be more realistic.
