“I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever met a Guitar Player that could not at least block out chords on a Keyboard.”

eah, its not that hard, plus a daw like Cubase makes it easy

Regarding the substitution of a guitar controller for a midi keyboard, I dont think this will ever work.A guitar controller is great for augmenting a keyboard, especially when you want to play single lines as string , synth or even piano sounds. You can use your guitar chops and, with quality sound libraries, get more than convincing performances. The problem is in playing full chords. Chorded backing tracks of ,lets say piano, will never sound as full when played with a guitar controller than they would when played with a keyboard. Best to learn minimal keyboards or master the function of a chord program such as Chord Track/Chord Pads in Cubase.

I saw it and was blown away. I’m old enough to have lived through his era first hand but had just forgotten the volume of work he’s done. When he made the comments about the Beatles and others the backlash was strong in my social media circles and a bit over the top given his age and general wit and sarcasm.

Anyway, it got me wondering, just for fun, who gets the bigger monthly residual payout? Quincy or McCartney? This is NOT an attempt to compare quality of work but just from a business level. If your reflex says the Beatles survivors you should see the doc first.

    What do y’all think?

Thanks Michael. I always try to search before posting so as not to be tedious but a search of “exclusive” yields no results and I scrolled thru 6 pages of conversations as well. I posted so as to speed up things as I expect to hear back from the Library pretty soon. I’ll also keep looking but any feedback on the other elements of the offer would be welcomed

Regarding this idea, its fully implemented in Cubase 9. There is a chord track, chord pads and chord assistant. The latter can interpret any notes played as a specific chord in real time and there are full scale and voicings to choose.

A stand alone product may have been more viable a few years ago ,but the likely target user would probably have a daw with these features these days.

Krisemm- the above is a great place to find plug in discounters. The Bargain Chat section gives a good idea of safe retailers

Just saw this follow up from last year. JRR is not a hoax company. That’s kind of an insult since I wouldnt post a link unless I knew the company.

I faced the same dilemma a few years ago and tried the Soundcloud Pro account for $50/ year. To me ,its not expensive but SC is a total joke for a composer showcasing their music in a serious manner. Reasons are

    1. when your song ends (if its last on your list) SC streams another artist.I wrote to them and never found a way to turn this off.

2 the song order should be drag and drop; just too hard to arrange and sub group.

3 SC calls out songs without a lot of listens with “looks pretty quiet here”…the very last thing I want and I’m not after a lot of listens anyway

Thanks again…not a NARAS member but I’m in the SF Bay Area so likely a chapter here. The attorney angle jarred my memory regarding an old contact. I’ve been doing instrumental music for the last few years so other than recording singers ,I havent dealt with vocal music especially that which I’ve created, in a while. Good ideas

Thanks for replying Beatslinger. I’m old and well aware of how things generally go. If need be I’d make a deal and, like anyone, always try for the best.

I think this would be a good song for 1st album r&b artist. Like a new Usher or Justin Bieber. I guess a pitchperson would be good, although they’d want a cut and I’d bet that would be 1/2. I was hoping there was an underground or little known site that managers and a/r folks were known to visit. Thanks for the ideas and any more to come
