Following on from the scotcambellmusic question.

There have been several cases of plagiarism down the years ,one of the most famous involving George Harrison, but has anybody ever heard of a music library taking a composer to court?

The implication from the add is that there is some sort of software that does the upload etc.

Is that the case or will somebody physically input the track and relevant data?

And what sort of money would you be asking per track/number of tracks?

I spend a lot of time(purely for research purposes !!!) in a pub in London which gives a platform to new and up and coming artists, manly unsigned, the trend appears to be about 70% Folk,in all it’s various forms, from electric,to trad, even to what I can only describe as physchadelic folk, maybe a few illicit substances helping out there!

The venues supplies a full backline (foc) but rarely is the drum kit option taken up,percussion is usually provided by a guy or girl banging on something that looks like a box of some sort, maybe it’s a proper instrument that I haven’t heard of yet.

The songwriting is melodic,in a contemporary sense.

Because of the nature of the place, they do ask that people listen and don’t talk while the acts are on and I heard some very very good stuff there, some not so good as well of course.

I think there will always be a place for electronic music but from what I hear the trend is toward acoustic and real instrumentation, a single Cello is not unusual in a lot of the line ups.

    Hi ,Mark,Kiwi,Wildman,Art,Gary,Kenny,Pat,Steve,Michael,(the other one!) : } yzzman,m,scott,andrei,

Thank you so much for sharing your working strategies,it’s a fascinating insight in to how we all have the same destination but take varying and diverse routes to get there.

Just lately I have been using a production line technique,I use Logic Pro and it gives me the option of 25 Most Recent and 20 are currently in use and the other 5 are for starting new ideas. If I can’t think of anything within one or two listens I move on to the next,it’s very rare that I don’t make a change even if it’s to take something out that I thought worked but didn’t.
The great thing is that we are making music.

    Thank you all once again,

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

I am sorry to have been the cause of any extra work for you,I think your post was a shining example of somebody trying to help others with their knowledge and experience.

I took the names mentioned as they were meant, as examples and not endorsements but like you I understand Art wants to keep MLR as neutral and not to appear to show bias but thank you again very much for your input.

Thanks Nathan,I thought it might just be me being over concerned but the thought that my music or in fact anybody’s music is stuck in a legal vault that we don’t have access to, in perpetuity does not fill me with a lot of hope.

    Thanks All!

The folks who responded who’s work I am familiar with and I have to say, have a great deal of admiration for and have often wondered how you get such great sounds, I now have some idea which direction I should be headed but I know there’s much more to it than just having the right gear.
The folks I don’t know, thank you for sharing,it’s all very helpful.

I’m wondering if a vocal version would constitute a variation or is it an entirely separate entity?
