Here’s my take. I’m with Identifyy and this is my experience on how they handle it.

It’s a high bar for someone to monetize their YouTube channel so I have not had a problem as most YouTube videos are not monetized. Last count we had about 1000 YouTube videos using our music and no one has received any strikes.

In fact, I had a copyright notification on one of our own tracks, though it doesn’t qualify to be monetized. All that meant (if I had been a client) was that I could use the music but not collect any YouTube royalties.

I had forgotten to whitelist our YouTube channel but once I notified Identifyy, they removed the claim within a couple of hours.

If you happen to have music on a monetized YouTube site and they get a copyright strike, it should be very simple to ask Songtradr to release it. Shouldn’t be more than 24 hours.

I should add that our music is only non-exclusive with numerous libraries.

    YMMV:-)

Some libraries will have calls for this kind of music. Have you tried contacting Calm directly? Another one is Insight Timer, which I actually use every day. You might try AudioSparx as I think they have a playlist for that type of music.

I will defer to LAWriter as he has much more experience than I. I am still older though. Ha,ha, ha!

All I have ever submitted, over these many years, were separate songs. I know some libraries might prefer them so I would check with any particular library you are planning to submit to.

Shall we all start speculating on this and what it means? Sounds warm and fuzzy but probably less money for us “affiliates”.

    Hi Vlad,

Have you seen this link? An older thread but might help you.

@Sami. I do understand the issue. I’m sure you make money in your day job. Creating music is our day job and we should be paid.

Just because you have a video that is non-monetized doesn’t mean you shouldn’t license the music. Licenses are relatively cheap these days. If you search the multiple royalty free sites out there you will most likely find a version that would work for you. It may not be a major philharmonic orchestra but you could very well find something suitable at a reasonable price.

I would not count on that. Best to check with any libraries you are working with.

Just received notice that our neighboring rights royalty (international), for this quarter, is a tad over $1500. Best one to date.

Don’t let that money slip through your fingers! Check out our Music Royalty Cheat Sheet (and this thread) on how to participate.

The problem for you is that while classical music is in the public domain. There is generally a copyright on the audio recording. You don’t think the creators of the recording should be paid for their work? Do you get paid when you work? I bet you do.

“Most of them are short between 10-15sec and promote an upcoming show within a few days to same day.”

Are you searching Numerator for the name of the show being promoted? BTW this is great info and is under the heading of “I learn something new every day!”

“I’m seeing ad codes for nearly all my promos and my co-writers promos on Numerator, even on smaller channels Art.”

Are these ads that promote other shows within the same network?
