@Jeeb: No problem, it’s easy to get confused. I certainly have many times.
I did move the PM link to a more visible spot on the top menu. That should help. Something good did come out of this. 😉

Some replies get caught in the moderation cue for various reason. Sometimes for links, sometimes for words that might be a partial match for a profanity or just mysterious reasons. Your post has been set free! 🙂

That I haven’t seen before and would stay away from them. Curious as to who that library is so I can note it on their listing. Please contact me so I can do so.
Thanks

July 28, 2013 at 9:05 am in reply to: Anyone else doing sound design/sound effects on the side ? #11232Art MunsonKeymasterI have them @ AS, RV & P5 (I hope this is alright to mention Art)
We have evolved to abbreviations being okay, just no mentioning of libraries by name on an open forum. Music Library Report is about music though, not SFX or sound design.
Art MunsonKeymasterOk I’ve been reading lots of comments throughout the site and want to know if anyone is actually making a LIVING out of doing this
Absolutely but it’s very hard work and it will make you a better composer. 😉
Art MunsonKeymasterJuly 14, 2013 at 5:45 pm in reply to: Best approach to getting placements (esp. TV/film) for a band? #10975Art MunsonKeymaster@Dogged. E-mail or PM me as I have a couple of other ideas for libraries. Discussing the various merits of libraries on the forums gets complicated as everyone has a different experience. I also like to keep those discussions restricted to their individual listing.

Art MunsonKeymasterBTW I think that http://www.music-for-video.com/ is a great implementation of integrating LicenseQuote. Check it out.
Art MunsonKeymasterMichaelL has written on this a lot. See this link:
Art MunsonKeymasterI even had acknowledgement from an ASCAP Board member and library owner that the promo is probably playing on 1000?s of radio stations across the country…
Switch to BMI. 😉
I did consider switching to ASCAP a few years ago. I had an inside track as Paul Williams (current president) is an old friend. I played guitar for Paul for a number of years and I’m sure I would have been treated well. But I just wasn’t going to chance ASCAP after reading numerous reports about how TV placements were being under-reported. Consequently I stayed with BMI.
Art MunsonKeymasterLicenseQuote is fine as it is not a library. I have an account with them and though I haven’t been keeping it up as much as I would like, I do think it’s an easy way to get a site up. Some companies I’ve looked at have implemented and integrated it nicely.
No sales though, but as I mentioned, I haven’t been tending to it very well.
Art MunsonKeymasterWhy did I not receive back end royalties for this USA Network promo?
I have received royalties from USA Network for promos but I’m with BMI. Maybe your PRO does not pay. From what I understand it depends on the PRO.
Art MunsonKeymasterIn my experience attacking those with lessor skill or lessor success comes from basic insecurity…
So true. Robin and I have been observing some of this behavior and it’s not hard to see the fear lurking behind the rhetoric.
