My DAW and stereo mastering/mixdown software don’t provide enough fields so I’ve been looking for a stand-alone solution.
I assume you are talking MP3 files. The problem is, if you are arbitrarily creating extra fields in some kind of MP3 software (I don’t know if such software exists) it will not do much good if it can’t be read by other MP3 software. There are competing standards out there as it is. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3
Personally I like Mp3tag, especially the batch function. That alone allows me to update hundreds of files at a time.
Art MunsonKeymaster@Frankensteiner. If you have questions about specific libraries ask them at their listing on this site. It’s the only way to keep threads on topics and build a knowledge base for other composers. Any off topic questions and replies about music libraries will be (and have been) removed. Thank you.
Art MunsonKeymasterDon’t think about how many tracks a day you need to create to reach 1500, it’s too overwhelming.
I agree. I doubt I will ever reach that goal as I don’t write that quickly.
Art MunsonKeymasterWhy isn’t BMG Production Music listed on this website?
It is, here: https://musiclibraryreport.com/b-to-b/bmg-music/
Art MunsonKeymasterBTW, just because you compose for yourself, doesn’t mean a library can’t use it.
So true. Robin and I have composed in many styles just because it was fun to do. I would say that the majority of them have been placed somewhere. There was one strange piece, written about 10 years ago, that never was placed until a couple of years ago. It showed up in a well paying commercial.
Art MunsonKeymasterThanks Brian, good one!
Art MunsonKeymasterDoes anyone know any method to sort the BMI catalog digitally and make finding new entries simpler?
No but you can contact them and they will send you a spreadsheet/csv file of all your registrations. That might help.
Art MunsonKeymasterDon’t know if Tunesat does (ask them). BMAT might. https://www.bmat.com/

Yep, What LAwriter said.
Art MunsonKeymasterAnyone with advice. I’ve been in contact with a library, The sync fees are few and far between. The library is offering upfront to give up sync. Option only.
I would say no but it’s more about your particular situation and how much upfront.
Art MunsonKeymasterBumpty, bump.
Art MunsonKeymasterUse this link. Been discussed here before. https://musiclibraryreport.com/search_gcse/?q=%20W8-BEN
Art MunsonKeymasterI’m not familiar with EU copyright rules. In the U.S. when you want to use an audio recording in a TV show or video you need a sync license. Depending on the situation, it may be an individual sync license, per use, or many times a library will issue a blanket license. The blanket license could have a one time fee or annual fee to cover the libraries complete catalog or a subset of the catalog. Hopefully I have explained this clearly. If not someone will straighten me out! 🙂
BTW it is SESAC not CESAC.
September 12, 2020 at 7:33 am in reply to: New Copyright Rules for “Group of Unpublished Works” #35740Art MunsonKeymasterSo how much would it cost to register 100 songs with them?
$850 in groups of 10 at $85 for each group. Every piece of music must have the same writer(s) in each group.
Art MunsonKeymasterFrom what I understand is that you can only be member at one PRO at the time, or you exempt a region or country.
That is correct.
