Hi Anders,
I agree with cozyhand3, the tracks are pretty much good-to-go and I don’t see you having a problem picking up some usage if they get in front of the right people. Definitely get to the verse quicker on “I Won’t Wait For The Future” (which works really well btw), and personally I’d drop the vocal and synth adlibs at 1.29′ and just let the track cruise along with the synth arps for a cycle before returning too the hook. Get them out there though, mate.
All the best!
b1nrybl0keParticipantDifficult to answer without a little more information on the song/demo that was accepted, but I would guess the latter plus whatever you can get on the backend.
b1nrybl0keParticipantApologies, I should have used collection society instead of PRO. In the UK the two main collection societies handle performing rights and sync licenses pretty much under one roof (PRS). I was trying to understand why a track would be re-registered with a collection society, changing only the “alt title” and moving to a 50/50 split on the sync license? I’m guessing some kind of buyout deal was done by the publisher and they shared a one-time sync fee.
b1nrybl0keParticipantMany thanks Music1234 for sharing your insight and experiences once again.
It does appear to amount to much more than 20-30mins, especially when taking into account the time spent in front of the TV, so I guess the size of the writer’s NE catalogue should be a determining factor when considering this route.
I’m wondering if anyone has had experience of this also paying off for works signed to exclusive libraries and where usage is missed by PROs?
b1nrybl0keParticipantI asked the publisher for the company’s VAT number but it turns out they don’t have one and they claim it’s not necessary for them to have it.
Hi mdeman, the UK threshold for VAT registration is £85k although you can register voluntarily below that afaik. So it is possible they don’t have a VAT number.
b1nrybl0keParticipantI don’t find one day a week enough! I try to split everyday between business and music.
I know what you’re saying and I anticipate the balance shifting as my NE work expands. At the moment my focus is on 3-4 days solid writing/programming/mixing. I’m also experimenting with breaking my year up into 90 day periods to keep me on task without being overwhelmed by the road ahead.
