hi art, i just checked BMI works registration and cant find any option to import excel…nor do i see an excel template for me to fill out…
boinkeee2000ParticipantI Figured Art, thanks…getting mixed advise as some folks only register main track and add the alts as an alt title (in BMI),
wow, thats a major undertaking if done manually..does BMI take spreadsheets for importing data?
boinkeee2000Participantbeatslinger, i updated from K9 ult to K12 ult recently…depends on which version your updating from…had a good 7yr run with K9 ult so felt it was good value now to get the new toys, wont update again till k15 or 16
still a dilemna for me to either get composer cloud sub or CSS though (only need new strings)…
boinkeee2000ParticipantHi Mark, when you say “production value” do you mean the quality of sample libraries used besides the mixing/mastering? is it all about the hybrid orchestra atm? just listened to audiomachine’s “so say we all” that was used on end game trailer and heard all your points…i get the emotional depth and arc thing, just the prod value still stumped…quick note i dont do trailer music just picking your brain
great job shen, cant see how your track cant be profitable with those few tweaks advised
boinkeee2000Participantinteresting read, especially the “monkey selfie”…curious to hear the 600 tracks those endel developers signed with warner
boinkeee2000Participantthanks for sharing your story b1nrybl0ke, this community owes a lot to the vets like yourself, especially those who never experienced the “golden days”
from your experience, what would be your sound advice for those whose willing to stick it out the next 10-15 years?
boinkeee2000Participanthad an issue with a lib where its not unusual to go to a 3rd rev…1 is fine, 2 is pushing it…whats frustrating is how each rev would open a new issue for them, or when they didnt catch something on the previous theyd tack it on the next one (which i feel is more a mood thing on their end)…worst part is when they reject it out of all that…backed out at 2nd rev on a few occasions and taken the track somewhere else (mind you these are excl briefs with no upfronts)
nowadays im happier when a lib rejects my track from the get go haha!
boinkeee2000Participantart, or actually anyone whos had exp with tunesat, how long is the delay for a placement to be detected? I had some placements from a show in animal planet back in nov-dec that wasnt picked up, does it take a while? I just have the main track on there, will it not connect the alt versions that were used to it?
boinkeee2000Participantthanks art, thought thered be detections only the paid acct would detect
boinkeee2000Participantafter a while i noticed they have different markets and clientele to worry much. just try to avoid the low balling RF sites, theres only 2 i get consistent sales from anyway (maybe 1 soon) …the rest are dormant
in the end you would’nt even know if you got shopped, nor can you predict which track will be shopped next, and if so i doubt it happens a lot so just let it go…getting a sale/license is hard enough as it is that youre already lucky they stumbled upon your needle in that ginormous haystack
boinkeee2000Participantit was a pain in the rear to add alternate titles for BMI if you already registered the main…only reason i needed to was the price difference like art said, and also a site that although NE, had issues with placing tracks in rival sites….both have changed their tune especially the price shopping problem, hence i dont do it anymore….same name across the board now
March 3, 2019 at 9:15 pm in reply to: How important do you think it is to offer alternate versions in RF libraries? #31802boinkeee2000Participantto clarify, i would’nt make anything (incomewise) without edits for RF…i mentioned 30sec edits cause ironically its 90% of my revenue… thus i even started making multiple 30sec edits of a single track along with the main, alts, no melody, no drms, 60s, 30s, stings, dnb, loops, etc, which helps increase your track count and visibility tenfold…i had an instance which a buyer bought 2 30s edits (acoust only and no lead) in one transaction without even previewing the main track (per analytics)…glad i took arts advise and implemented this strategy from day 1..
just sharing my humble experience with RF and as usual YMMV
March 1, 2019 at 1:09 pm in reply to: How important do you think it is to offer alternate versions in RF libraries? #31790boinkeee2000ParticipantI wouldnt make anything without 30sec cues…real talk
boinkeee2000Participantive had times where a track was meant for an excl brief but after it was finished had a change of heart and ended up spreading it across NonEx RF & Traditional libs…the ownership issue is such a dilemna for me
boinkeee2000ParticipantThe irony for me is, when i aim to crank something out, it would take longer to finish, and when i do take my time, things get completed faster than expected…imo some of my favorite tracks (no relation on placeability) started off as a cookie cutter idea that blossoms to something special, but it would consume double the time expected thus missing the brief
right now im satisfied with finishing 3-5 tracks a week..i did feel like a failure for a while since i couldnt hang with the “3 a day” crowd, tried it for a few months and wasnt happy, started questioning my competence…beside redoing most of it over…felt theres too much life passing me by
